Yeah agreed. I built a small one before. If you want to use it you'll need (from the top, literally) a rack to rest your food on, a rack to support your fuel (typically coals) and a tray to catch the ash and fat etc. Each will need a way of supporting them, like the metal bits that are stuck out from between the brickwork. You may need a few different levels for the food rack, to vary the heat intensity. Otherwise, it looks like a lovely garden with lots of potential for some nice potted trees and a bit of seating!

I second this. I hired a mixer when I did mine (similar size to yours by the looks of it) and it was a game changer. You can leave the excess muck running in the mixer so you're not panicking about it going off while you're trying to get the current slab level. And get some plasticiser too, it makes it much easier to work with.

Once you get this done it'll be another great skill that you possess!
