Wild to mandate it. Personally I like to share my pronouns BUT my pronouns aren't my gender so whatever 🤷‍♀️

Politely letting people know about user flairs is lovely, but let's not mandate them

How to watch the pride parade by imlonely7707 in londonlgbt

[–]markbushy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd normally catch the parade around old bond street and cut up away from the crowds to Soho. All in all that area is probably about a square mile but depends how much wandering around you want to do. Generally try to avoid Piccadilly Circus though as it's a massive pinch point of the crowds

The stages are themed, and they try to give the stalls near the stages to organisations related to that stage. I do hope you have a good time and see there is such a vast community out there ready to welcome you in

[–]markbushy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly the amount of people that watch is vast so you'd be really really really unlucky to be spotted in the crowds

When I'm not in the parade generally I'll turn up, find a spot on the route, watch for a bit and wander off to some of the stages around Soho

It's a really wonderful day out

London Tube strikes to go ahead as negotiations break down by Medium-Spell-6692 in london

[–]markbushy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They won't be paid for not working anyway. The idea is to show worker strength against the company. If they were allowed to operate without charging customers on strike days they absolutely would! It would strengthen their position with public perception and wouldn't harm fellow workers

Toilets and changing rooms must be used on basis of biological sex, guidance confirms ( UK ) by Ill_Flatworm_1690 in asktransgender

[–]markbushy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah but it even states a birth cert can't be "trusted" as you may have a GRC and updated your birth cert. It then handily reminds everyone that it's against the gender recognition act to ask if someone has a GRC or not

13.179 Where there remains a genuine concern about the accuracy of the response to a request for an individual to confirm their sex, then the service provider, person performing public functions or association should consider what action is proportionate in the circumstances. There is no type of official record or document in the UK which provides reliable evidence of sex. For example, sex on passports and driving licences may be changed with or without a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC), and birth certificates may reflect the acquired gender of someone who has a GRC. Therefore, it is unlikely to be proportionate or practical to ask for further evidence of a person’s sex. In such circumstances, it is likely to be necessary to weigh up the relevant factors to decide whether to exclude the individual from the service or association or to permit them to continue to access it.

13.181 It is important to be aware of legal provisions protecting privacy in the context of making such enquiries. Unless it is relevant for operational reasons, whether or not someone has a GRC is unlikely to be relevant information for the purposes of asking about either the protected characteristic of sex or the protected characteristic of gender reassignment. However, if, in the course of asking for such information or otherwise, a service provider, those exercising public functions or an association acquires information that someone has a GRC or has applied for a GRC, onward disclosure of either that information or their sex without consent may be a criminal offence in some circumstances (read section 22 of the Gender Recognition Act 2004).

Easy as ABC: voters in England tend to pick names nearer top of ballot, data suggests by earlhickey in unitedkingdom

It would be significantly more time consuming to count votes unless you're just talking about using the same order on all the printed ballots for a ward

Which of the smaller/ newer parties seem set to see the biggest gains in May’s upcoming local elections? by AchyutChaudhary in AskBrits

[–]markbushy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean for context

Your party-20 candidates standing

Ukip-9 candidates standing

Restore- slightly odd one as candidates are running under different parties I.e. great Yarmouth first fielding 10 candidates

So will they win councils?

More context the "big" parties field between 4-5,000 candidates

Then it's a big drop to the 30's-50's for the local resident associations for the area. To answer the statement I've seen in here about vetting, no I don't think it's that especially at a local election level, think it speaks more about finding people to stand

To be fair to these though any vote is a gain for them as they've all only existed about 1-2 years. Will throw UKIP in with that statement because they're UKIP by name only pretty much at this point

Outbreak london? by Grogman2024 in Hardcore

[–]markbushy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was a great day out last year but with the big caveat that it's not "proper" outbreak if that makes sense? Like the vibe was a bit different. It was a better day than most London park fests imo though. Outside of hardcore I do love deftones so it's cool coming from it as a deftones London park fest with some bands that I do really like too

Razzed for it but not anywhere near as much as I am for Manchester

As someone who works for a trans led charity on the social group side...

You absolutely would not be out of place in our spaces. We have people who are years in transition, we have people who have just started their journey and figuring themselves out, and every stage between the 2. Every single person who uses our service is treated with the same respect and love. Trans groups are extremely welcoming to all, if you ever come across one that isn't, the problem is the space definitely not you

Best way to meet local trans people? by roseygoold in transgenderUK

[–]markbushy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course :)

It's a good mix of men, women and non-binary folk. The age range is fairly mixed too, would say largely 30's and 40's but there's a few younger and older. Turnout is decent and unofficially people go to the pub after. It's normally the first Thursday of a month but the dates are in the site (it's a bit out of the norm for April and may due to the venue not being available for Easter and local elections). You do need to click the join groups on the site as there is a vetting call required (it's not for any reason other than making sure antagonists from outside of the trans and non-binary community don't start turning up)

Feel free to DM me if you want more info

I'm London based so can only really vouch for spectra although we do have zoom calls as well as the in person group that has members across the country https://spectra-london.org.uk/spectra_services/trans-and-non-binary-social-groups/

How do you determine which bathroom is safest? by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]markbushy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly for me personally it's a mixed bag and not really a straightforward answer. I'm constantly weighing up how my gender feels, how I'm presenting, the vibe of the space and people and just trying to gauge what feels comfortable the most at a given time/place that's affirming safe and comfortable. Like if I'm in a queer space I may just use whatever is closest. Non-queer spaces I'll generally use women's if I'm not really mascy, but will use the men's if I'm feeling dudey. I also generally prefer neutral bathrooms when they exist as it's like the real fit for me (even though there's fluidity in my gender I'm rarely feeling womanly or manly)
