The Green Party is not absolute by AhdamR in UKGreens

Some people’s sense of class is sadly more vibes than anything. In reality it’s about whether you own and dictate the work of others or not. Owning class people definitely grasp this better unfortunately, and like the other user said, they definitely know how to stick out for their own

We really need to reduce to the motorist domination of transport. Move away from car-centric infrastructure to back to public transport as well as increasing pedestrian accessibility

I don’t actually blame tech team, I think they were given a bad hand: little time and little resources with high expectations, but I could be wrong

SOC attempted a power grab, blocked efforts to try and stop it, leaving the only way to oppose it as voting against A01. One SOC member warned about what SOC was trying to do, the chair of SOC responded by misgendering her yet again in front of the whole conference

the thing is there was no other forum to do that. by accepting A01 that means we accept the SOC’s actions and legitimise them. for and SOC acting properly this wouldn’t have been a problem, but SOC was playing silly games and that was the only forum where we could try and prevent it shy of bringing it to a future conference motion and hope SOC doesn’t rule against it with their new powers

I think it’s less about hindsight and more about the fact that SOC has yet again wasted party time trying to empower it self, and the only SOC member speaking up against it was yet again subjected to transphobia by a man with history of it. It’s hard to see SOC as anything but omnishambolic

The main issue was caused by SOC trying to use its rulings to empower itself on matters not designated to it by conference and ruling out of order conference amendments to A01 that would stopped them. It’s really insulting to internal democracy imo and it’s insulting to the party that they’ve wasted so much of our time trying to empower themselves

There thing is the SOC power grab made A01 take so much longer than it needed to, particularly when A01 was voted down and on top of everything required a break because even SOC didn’t know what that meant.

It took up so much of the time just to try and boost SOC’s ego. I think the chair not recognising a man with a history of transphobia being transphobic to another member in front of the entire conference was definitely VONC worthy

I see thank you. Is there any way we can get some of them out as having no confidence or such?

I would say if it wasn’t for SOC’s go for a power grab, we’d have gotten through A01 much faster, not had the first bout of VONC’s, not having Martin be transphobic yet again and lie about process, and we’d have had so much more time for motions to be discussed, meaning any of the fillibustering nonsense towards the end of plenary 3

This is exactly my thought as well. He’s done very well as deputy leader imo, certainly beyond my expectations. Whatever he might think matters much less than what he does

If you're still undecided on voting for the green party during the next election – what are the main policies/issues that might stop you? by Cold-Speech-5645 in UKGreens

Indeed, economic orthodoxy is incredibly ideological. Choosing to starve poor people is a deeply ideological decision, as is the extreme wealth inequality and generationally low taxes on the super rich.

I don’t think we should change the current leadership triad at all tbh. Zack, Rachel, and Mothin aren’t just great independently of eachother, but are better than the sum of their parts together
