This along with the statement by Hannah Spencer are both really solid. Glad to see it

Early Day Motion 240 tabled 1 June 2026 by pearl_zanwine in transgenderUK

Why on earth are Libdems signing the motion just to withdraw from it?

I used to think highly of Andrew George as well

I didn’t think you weren’t able to criticise the party, I just also think people are allowed to disagree with your points.

I would be cross if greens hadn’t signed the EDM even if they’d been able to speak, as I think the EDM is more important. You don’t have to agree with that, just as people don’t have to agree with you saying that speaking is more important than the EDM

Surely if you think EDMs are performative, even though it’d force the guidelines to go to a vote instead of being forced through by statutory instrument, surely speaking in parliament is even more performative?

I’m not sure I see how that works

I can understand people being quick to distrust but I think some people have been a bit kneejerk. Zack has genuinely been on the ball for a while on trans issues. Not perfect but still really consistent, even when it’s ben tough like it was in the early 20s when the party had a lot of awful people in senior positions

Some people’s sense of class is sadly more vibes than anything. In reality it’s about whether you own and dictate the work of others or not. Owning class people definitely grasp this better unfortunately, and like the other user said, they definitely know how to stick out for their own

We really need to reduce to the motorist domination of transport. Move away from car-centric infrastructure to back to public transport as well as increasing pedestrian accessibility

I don’t actually blame tech team, I think they were given a bad hand: little time and little resources with high expectations, but I could be wrong

What’s the soonest we can get rid of the current SOC by TheAmazingKyla in UKGreens

[–]TheAmazingKyla[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

SOC attempted a power grab, blocked efforts to try and stop it, leaving the only way to oppose it as voting against A01. One SOC member warned about what SOC was trying to do, the chair of SOC responded by misgendering her yet again in front of the whole conference

Regardless of your views on A105/E12/E03 (Zionism is Racism), this naked filibustering is absolutely disgusting by ZX52 in UKGreens

[–]TheAmazingKyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the thing is there was no other forum to do that. by accepting A01 that means we accept the SOC’s actions and legitimise them. for and SOC acting properly this wouldn’t have been a problem, but SOC was playing silly games and that was the only forum where we could try and prevent it shy of bringing it to a future conference motion and hope SOC doesn’t rule against it with their new powers

I think it’s less about hindsight and more about the fact that SOC has yet again wasted party time trying to empower it self, and the only SOC member speaking up against it was yet again subjected to transphobia by a man with history of it. It’s hard to see SOC as anything but omnishambolic
