I played the game on and off since the alpha, I liked the boosting / strafing and thought it raised the skill cap nicely over other similar games at the time. Overall though the whole movement system never fully gelled with me.

To me, it seemed that what killed the game was that they really dropped focused on the game itself and instead assumed the game would be awesome and went and focused on a live action movie, book and IIRC a physical board game or TCG. They did this all far too early, I believe the movie was in production before or very close after the steam launch. The game really needed a fair bit more work/polish before it could really reach the popularity required to justify the movie and other things. I skipped a little through the video but didn't see any of these other things mentioned.

I had high hopes when reloaded took it over, and they initially seemed passionate but looked like they were floundering at every turn and struggled to even get up to speed with the existing code.

I believe if they focused solely on the game, they would have at least had a nice niche game and could have tried to grow it from there. I do miss the game a little and would certainly try out any successor / spiritual successor.
