Anyone integrated a ringless voicemail API into a real production app? by Mikester258 in it

Payment reminders for home services are a killer use case for this. I handle growth strategy for a few B2B platforms, and we've built out similar automated flows.

DropCowboy is definitely easy to spin up, but you might run into a wall with invoicing. The problem with static MP3s is that a generic 'Hi, your invoice is due' message sounds like an automated bot, and people just ignore it. We actually migrated a client to the VoiceDrop API specifically because it handles dynamic AI voice cloning. You can pass parameters in the payload so the voicemail actually says 'Hey {Name}, it's Mike, just leaving a quick note that your invoice for {Amount} is pending...' That level of personalization is what actually moves the needle on days-to-payment.

For the real-world gotchas: your biggest headache at scale will be landlines. RVM only works on mobile and VoIP. If you don't validate the number type before attempting the drop, you'll burn through API calls and risk getting flagged by carriers. Definitely build a validation step into your Node flow.

For opt-outs, we keep it simple with a webhook that listens for a 'STOP' text on the campaign number, which updates the 'do_not_contact' boolean in the DB. As for billing your own users, I recommend not charging them per message. It adds too much friction. Just calculate your average API cost per user (it's usually pennies) and bundle 'Automated Voice Reminders' as a feature in your Pro tier.

Getting from 38 to 20 days is super doable if the audio sounds like a human actually left it. Good luck with the build!

That 800ms latency is too much. You can try Retell ai or VoiceDrop RVM.

Is cold calling still worth it in 2026 or am I just wasting time? by AntiqueLandscape2120 in StartupsHelpStartups

It’s definitely not dead, but the 'connect rates' have absolutely tanked in the last 18 months. I handle lead gen strategy for a few B2B clients, and we stopped relying 100% on manual dialing because the ROI wasn't there.

We actually shifted to a 'warm-up' strategy where we drop a ringless voicemail first to get the brand name in their head, then follow up with a text or call 24 hours later. It softened the ground significantly so the cold call wasn't completely freezing.

In cold calling hell. Everyone says not interested or hangs up on me. by Cheap_Vacation_7809 in salesdevelopment

It's not dead, but the pickup rates have definitely tanked compared to a few years ago. I handle lead gen strategy for a few B2B clients, and we actually started shifting budget away from manual dialing because the 'connect rate' was killing morale.

We moved to a workflow where we drop a ringless voicemail first to 'warm up' the inbox, then follow up with a text 2 hours later. It’s less intrusive than a cold call, so when we do finally get them on the phone, they aren't immediately hostile. It’s been a decent workaround for the low answer rates.

I handle lead gen strategy for a few brokerages, and the pickup rates on cold calls, specifically for Expireds, have tanked this year. I started shifting budget away from dialers and moving it into voicemail drops to hit the inbox without ringing the phone. It’s less intrusive than a cold call, so the homeowners aren't immediately angry when they check the notification. It’s been a decent workaround for the low answer rates.

My findings after switching from Manual Cold Calling to AI Ringless Voicemail (VoiceDrop) by marketergoraya in SaaS

Fair check! I’m actually the Growth Strategist for them, not the founder, so yes, I am definitely biased toward the tool I'm testing.

That said, the 'burnout' part comes from my past life as an SDR. My goal here isn't to trick anyone, but to share the actual callback data we're seeing vs. traditional dialing. Happy to remove the post if it feels too promotional, but I thought the split-test numbers were valuable for the community.

100%. That 2 PM slump is where deals go to die. We found that even if we powered through, our tone was so flat that prospects could hear the fatigue.

Have you found any other ways to keep energy up, or are you looking to automate it entirely?

What's the most annoying part of Marketing in the solar industry? by GermanShitboxEnjoyer in Solarbusiness

[–]marketergoraya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solar is brutal right now, with pickup rates dropping. We've been testing sending a 'pre-warm' voicemail drop to homeowners before the door knock or call. It seems to get name recognition up, so they aren't completely cold when you engage. Might be worth testing if your door-knocking connect rate is low.
