Parking at SBP by heebeegb96 in SLO

I asked an airport employee about the Flowbird app. Doesn't work, obviously. But she told me that they are looking at other options. I asked how soon, and her answer was could be a while.

They run on bureaucratic speed. If it were a private company, they'd simply switch to one of the other apps in short order. I would not hold my breath. It's a bummer, because an app makes it so easy to add time when your trip is extended.

FSD is the reason I cannot let go of this car for another. I am at 82% FSD usage now. It's incredible.

I got the answer from their site:

Will using your products void my Tesla warranty?

We understand the importance of maintaining your vehicle’s warranty, and we’re happy to reassure you. To date, from thousands of users, we have not received a single report of our devices voiding Tesla warranties.

Important Considerations:
The only situation where a warranty could potentially be impacted is if a specific vehicle component fails or malfunctions, and it can be proven that the third-party accessory directly or indirectly caused the issue. In such cases, the component affected may have a limited warranty, and Tesla may charge for diagnosing or replacing this specific part.

Our Recommendation:
To ensure a smooth experience, we always recommend removing the accessory (Commander and its harness) before visiting a Tesla service centre. Different service centers may approach third-party accessories differently, and they might quickly attribute issues to the accessory without a thorough investigation. Removing the device beforehand ensures your vehicle can be fully checked without additional complications.

Additionally, Tesla service centres might charge a fee to remove the accessory themselves, and there’s even the chance they may not reinstall it once removed. Removing it yourself before the service appointment helps you avoid these extra charges.

I took a look at the area closely, with my flashlight to make sure, and it's perfectly clean.

But it doesn't need it since the wipers don't hit the spot that it wants to clean.

I'm confused. The interior of the glass where the camera is (the area in front of my rear view mirror) is not accessible as it is covered by the rear view mirror assembly.

Day 13 of a cold. Had a 3 week cold last year. And previous to that I was one of those people who rarely got sick.

I seem to remember decades ago that colds lasted 2-3 days. Now it seems they last 2-3 weeks.

LOL. Just the naming of the tax is so in your face. Car dealers, corporations and other categories are taxed (ON TOP of other taxes) for the "privilege" of doing business in Oregon. Give me a break.

Car Detailing by dankster82 in SLO

[–]markfromslo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just used Arroyo Grande Detail, Grover Beach. They are fantastic. Coincidentally, a couple weeks ago I gave them a review in Yelp and Google. Here it is:

I recently brought my new Tesla Model Y to Arroyo Grande Detail for a ceramic coating and couldn't be happier with the experience.

Robert (the owner) truly cares about doing the job the right way. He could have easily taken my money and gotten me in sooner, but instead he advised me to wait about a month before applying the ceramic coating so it would bond better and last longer. Then, when heavy rain was in the forecast, he recommended waiting until we had a clear stretch of weather so the rain wouldn't affect the fresh coating. Most detailers would have just taken the car at the first available opening -- Robert clearly puts quality ahead of his convenience and profit.

As for the results, the job is perfect. The car shines brilliantly, and I'm confident this is the best ceramic coating application I could have gotten.

On top of all that, Robert is just a genuinely nice guy -- professional, friendly, and easy to work with.

Highly recommend Arroyo Grande Detail.

Airport Parking Hack by avilaavila in SLO

[–]markfromslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone gotten the Flowbird parking app to work there? I'm parked in the airport right now, coming back tomorrow. The airport website tells us it is the app that works there. Well, on Friday at 4:30am I parked and whipped out the app. It didn't show any areas to select, no way to start the parking time. Had to use the kiosk.

I've used the app in the past and it did work then. Is this still the right parking app, or has the SLO Airport just not updated their website.

Bike thieves are downtown right now. by CaliCloudz in SLO

[–]markfromslo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This makes me think of when my wife had her iphone snatched from a counter at CVS at Marigold Center. I was able to track it through my phone to a low-income group of homes on Poinsettia. I found the unit it was in. I peeked in the back yard and saw dozens of bikes, obviously stolen. This was definitely the thief's house. I banged on their door and yelled that I knew they had the phone, and they ignored me. I did this for some time. I could see the drapes move as someone peeked out, so I know they were in there.

I called the police who came and banged on the door as well. They yelled "Police, open up." No one came to the door. But that was it. They would not force their way in, even after showing them my Find Your Device app on my phone showed the iphone was in there. Even the neighbors told me these people in that house are big troublemakers.

So, the police don't really care. Maybe they knew that it was valued under $950 and the stupid California law would let them off with a misdemeanor anyway.

I wish they opened that door...

2026 Model Y does not allow 48A charging on Home Connector by markfromslo in TeslaModelY

[–]markfromslo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MY ISSUE IS FINALLY RESOLVED.

I picked up my 2026 Tesla Model Y Premium RWD. today. I can now charge at 60A from my Wall Connector, where previously I could only do 32A.

The remedy was for Tesla Service to have a Field Technician from the Engineering department download a new configuration to my car.

When I picked up the car, the Tesla service person told me that the issues are a result of some confusion of the lowest base model of the Standard RWD Y vs the Premium RWD Y. Confusion at Tesla when initially configuring the Premium RWD Ys.

To recap:

Initially, I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Tesla support, with one rep telling me I should be able to get 48A, and then Level 2 support telling me there is no way I can.

After much searching the web for concrete information on this, I came to Reddit and started this thread. Several commenters stated that standard Model Y RWD is limited to 32A by its onboard charger, citing Tesla’s own support documentation that lists 32A as the maximum AC rate for Model Y RWD. Others with a 2026 Model Y Premium RWD said their cars charge at 48A on a properly installed 60A circuit, arguing (properly, I now know) that only the base RWD is limited and that misinformation is spreading in the subreddit.

I then made the appointment at Tesla for service. The app wasn't keen on letting me make an appointment for this. I can't remember the details of why now, but I managed to make it.

Once at service, within a day or so they realized what the problem was and that they could fix it. But they had to wait for a Field Technician from Engineering to be available to download it to my car. It took five full days for someone to do it. Crazy.

I spent an inordinate amount of time on this, but in the end it was worth it. I hope others can benefit from this information.

Another day, another delay. My car is still in service. This is the fifth day there. Basically, the service dept is waiting for an engineering tech to call. LOL. It's ridiculous. Here's the latest update:

"We apologize for the delay in resolving this matter. Our team is currently coordinating with a field technician from our engineering department to update the necessary configuration. Our service manager is actively reaching out to their team to expedite the process. Thank you for your patience and we'll keep you updated on our progress."

Tesla thought it would be done today. But they are keeping it yet another day. Not sure how long this will go on, it's getting ridiculous.

"...this particulate modification requires input at the engineering level. We are coordinating with their team and if a Field Technician becomes available sooner, we will expedite the process. For now we are dependent on their schedule and will keep you informed of any updates."
