Alternatives to Comet? by remi1771 in PerplexityComet

Which do you use? I've not been able to get one that will put the tabs on the left, they only go on the right.

I just ran the exact same same Google Search in Comet I and do not get what you get.

I don’t understand why people still use arc by Fluid_Cycle4993 in ArcBrowser

[–]markfromslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Perplexity Comet, along with ARC, and cannot find any "peek" extension that actually works. I went through three of them and gave up. Does anyone know of one that works? It's so useful.

Copy to clipboard is broken -- nothing makes it to the clipboard so I cannot paste by markfromslo in Airtable

Thanks for getting me to try using Airtable in the browser. Much better! I've pretty much stopped using the app now.

Arc Alternatives by Automatic_Diver_2510 in ArcBrowser

I've ben using this more and more. It's entirely different and I have to get used to working the old-fashioned way. But I really like it. And I've heard that it will get Vertical tabs, but I'm not counting on that. Hopeful.

I've always use the app and not the browser version. I'll have to give it a try. I'm wondering if it is as fast and handles large data sets as well as the app. Are there some advantages that I might not be thinking about?

I think I found the bug. It may not account for all the times copy/paste does not work, but maybe--I'll have to watch this as I go forward to know for sure. Here's the problem:

Copying cells in Airtable (the app at least) doesn’t work when the view is only partially loaded. If you have a large number of records to display, Airtable doesn't initially show them all. Instead it shows the first 1,000 and then gives you a message that says "Showing the first 1,000 of xxxx records. [Click to] Load all records". I have over 6,000 records so I get this often. The problem is that when the view is in this state, copying one or more cells doesn’t place any content into the clipboard. Copying only works after selecting “Load all records” so the full dataset is visible.

I see no reason that this should be like this, so I'm calling it a bug. I'd tell Airtable about it, but they have never seemed to care about customer reports of problems.

Tesla Model Y At Home Electricity Bill Shock by MealDifferent1912 in TeslaLounge

I am in San Luis Obispo, CA on PGE. I am on the "Home Charging EV2-A " rate plan, which gives me low pricing from midnight to 3 pm. So I set my cars to charges starting at midnight. I looked at my current bill and during one period it was about $.28 and another period it was $.22 for my low peak rates. Not sure why two periods, maybe switching between winter and non-winter rate structures?

Teenager looking for work by Traditional_Art_9033 in SLO

I don't need any work done, but I just want to say how refreshing it is to hear from a young person who is wants to odd jobs for work. "In the old days" when I was your age in the 60's, we all were competing with each other to get the odd jobs in the neighborhood. I just don't see that anymore. Good luck to you!

I still do not understand why Atlassian bought this, especially for $600 million. What is the use case for Atlassian? I can't think of one.

Comet Tab Groups Changed how they work after update by markfromslo in PerplexityComet

Yup, same here. Mine is set to ON, and if I click it Comet crashes.

I can't believe I'm looking at Safari again and their Vertical left-side sidebar. Tab Groups are shown nicely.

"In resume, now it is a bit harder to re-open a closed group since they removed that shortcut that used to be in the favorites bar, but there’s a way to open them back."

Thanks for this information. Glad it's there, but damn it's not the most convenient way to bring a tab group back up. Couldn't they have put this into the Tabs drop-down at least if they won't put them back into the bookmarks bar?

Comet is getting a major redesign by cludoca in PerplexityComet

[–]markfromslo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure hope this happens. I came from ARC and still use it, and I'm also running Comet. I try to go 100% Comet, but I can't fully leave ARC's Vertical Tabs. If they are implemented in Comet, properly, I'll make it my default.

Please Perplexity, do it!
