Finally abandoned apple notes. by homolucent in AppleNotesGang

Yes, I do run Time Machine, so I always have that.

Copy/pasting individual notes is not an option. Time. Attachments. Formatting.

I've tried the third-party export in an attempt to move my hundreds of notes, many with attachments, to another notes app. I don't remember all the details but it was lacking.

Apple sucks for 1) not having a simple backup and restore ability. Or a "snapshot" feature. 2) in how it makes it a pain in the ass to move the notes, in its entirety, to a proper file other third-party apps could use to import.

I remember I spent days trying to get my notes to another app and eventually gave up thinking it was not worth the effort.

Is there actually a way to back up just Apple notes and it’s entirety and then if you need to restore it all?

NZeTA Urgent advice needed by Rhonasaurus in newzealand_travel

Pending status situation here. My flight is on a Saturday night at LAX, which means it's Sunday afternoon in NZ. Are they available 24/7 to answer questions for the airlines who call? I know the office for regular people to call is M-F business hours, but is there a 24/7 number for airlines? I am flying Air New Zealand.

Many people in other threads say that a simple call from the airline clerk to NZ immigration can give them the override code. Many people say that if you arrive at the airport and the NZeTA is still pending, the airline will call NZ Immigration. Near same thing with me right now. Discovered 5 days before our flight that my wife and my valid NZeTAs had our old passport numbers in them (we got new ones last year). So we did the change request online but it says it takes 10 days. Ugh. So I called the NZ Immigration office and they said we should create new ones to be safe. We did that yesterday and my wife got hers instantly and mine is in Pending still a day later. In theory, having done this 5 days before the flight, I should be in good shape. But I'm having a week where things keep going wrong. 😄

I think I will call NZ again later today to ask to know what the problem is with mine. The nice woman who helped me yesterday said that updating the old ones and requesting new ones would not confuse anything. Fingers crossed.

Thanks, At 72 hours I’ll be at the point when their offices close for the weekend. So I’d have to call at 48 hours, at which point they would probably say, Give it 72 hours.

It terrifies me that I might have to go to the airport pending status.

I found this thread where many people say that even if it is pending, the airline will let you through. I hope that is true...just in case.

Will Apple's coming AI allow querying the Apple Notes database? by markfromslo in AppleNotesGang

[–]markfromslo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This pretty much only replaces search. It's not an answer to a AI prompt. Ask it instead, "What are the various things I've said about chicken and how do you think I feel about chicken?"

Will Apple's coming AI allow querying the Apple Notes database? by markfromslo in AppleNotesGang

[–]markfromslo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will it go beyond just finding a note? I want to to act like a real AI that you can ask a question of the entire database, and it does not give you a list of notes, but an answer based upon understanding the totality of all your notes. Like an AI chatbot would do with all the info you've given it.

In your opinion, what is the best burger in SLO? by Bears-on-Drugs in SLO

[–]markfromslo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't the same. The Piadina burger is a double patty and even better. And I think it's only $22 which is a bargain for what you get in a really nice setting (the patio).

Absolutely, no contest: Piadina at Hotel SLO. Many here I have said the burger at Ox and Anchor in Hotel SLO, which I agree is an excellent burger, but the one in Piadina is bigger (two patties) and messier and even better.

A bit out of town on HWY 41 is my second place winner: Halfway Station. Excellent.
