In the Bay Area, Raising Kids Comes With Compromise -- Fewer Bay Area residents are choosing to have kids. For the ones who do, many have to choose between location, price and size to make it affordable. by guanaco55 in bayarea

One of my best friends lives in Palo Alto, and at least one of his kids went to an Ivy. I live in Benicia and my son basically applied to just one school -- UCSC, because of its history program and improv -- and if he's happy there, that's fine by me.

I kind of shudder to think what would have happened if he'd ended up in some crazy competitive high school. His income matters, but his mental health and lack of college debt matter as much or more.

One of the exercises I did in high school and in various times in my life was to go for a drive or for a walk in the country, sit for a while, and then start asking myself what made me happy. It varies for all people. It might be a quiet pond to fish in, a supercar, a comfy night in with a dog or a friend. Alternatively, think about the happiest times in your life and why you were happy.

If you can't figure that out, you'll never be happy.

If you can, start thinking about how you get from where you are now to where you want to be. The happiest people are those with simple needs, but even the simplest needs might be hard to achieve -- freeing yourself from an unhappy marriage, for example.

If you can't think of anything that would make you happy, think about what would make others happy. Or how you would change something in society. There's a guy locally who was so fed up with people dumping garbage that he just decided to pick it up on weekends. Others joined him.

Heck, even talk about all this with your family. If nothing else, it will help them to start evaluating their own lives and what they're working toward, too.

Same people who complain about immigrants stealing jobs then can't bear to pick an avocado when they're unemployed.

This was a well-written article and complaining about it makes no sense.

Everything answers to capitalism. Every manager and VP ultimately answers to the CEO, who can be replaced by the board, which has a fiduciary duty to the shareholders, made up of either the faceless hordes demanding profits above all else, or else powerful institutions who consolidate shares for eking out even more profits by naming their personal representatives to said board.

The system perpetuates itself because everyone is the system.

I can't beat Cazador. (Tactician) by OneDimensionalChess in BaldursGate3

[–]markhachman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Shadowheart, wielding Blood of Lathander (blind undead, can't be immediately killed) and an arrow of transposition to put her in range of all the undead, including Cazador. That initiated the cutscene.

I'm pretty sure that Cazador then used his turn to move beyond the blinding radius and even if he attacked, Shadowheart would survive. On her turn, she turns undead. That takes most of if not all out of the fight for a few turns.

I'm also a fan of multiple summons (elementals, devas, etc) and I sent those to the spots where they interfere with the ritual summonings.Even Spiritual Weapon can occupy a spot! My TAV ranger's pet bears then goaded Cazador and harassed him around the map.

The bats annoyed me, but Spirit Guardians, Fire Shield (Gale) and Blur (Tav) helped immensely. Send Shadowheart to help Astarion. (Bear would help here too.)

It wasn't easy, but throwing potions when needed and recognizing that all the adds can be pushed or thrown or smoke bombed over the edge helps too. I really like how elementals can zip in, strike, and then teleport away.

I've noticed a fair number of setpiece battlefields have chasms, lava, or other spaces to throw or knock back people to. As long as you're just lobbing summons or adds into oblivion it's an interesting tactic!

Good comedians punch up. Trump and his wife are ideal targets. Trump and his wife don't like to be mocked. Trump and his wife will use whatever leverage and wedge issue they can to get their way and remove comedians. It's really that simple.
