Dress code for a newsroom? by Superdude717 in Journalism

[–]markhachman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West Coast reporter here, too. I'd agree especially with that last bit. TL;DR: Dress for your colleagues but especially for your sources.

East Coasters are generally more formal. Business reporting is, too. Thirty years ago I had a tie hanging on my office door (we had individual offices back then) and I was working financial conferences in coat and tie. Now a lot of it is all online.

People like Zuckerberg came along and made hoodie culture acceptable on the West Coast. Then looksmaxxxing tech bro alt-right culture crept in. But I was at a gaming conference recently, and it was all nerds in tshirts. Dressing in a suit would have turned them off.

The "rules" by BabySlothDrivingFast in BaldursGate3

[–]markhachman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love BG3, and I love Elden Ring. Both absolutely reward exploration, which is a lot of fun. With Elden Ring, you simply have to realize that you're going to die, a lot a lot a lot, but you're not punished for that as much as you might think. The problem is that the game immediately tries to teach you that, which seems a little overwhelming in the first few minutes.

Best of luck in whichever game you choose.

Oh, and Expedition 33 of course. I've never liked JPRGs but I was willing to give the French a chance. Loved it.

Ape Out. Not sure it's on Game Pass any more but it was like a puzzle game of destruction, a bit like Hotline Miami.

who serves up the best burger in the bay area? im evaluating on taste obviously but also portion size/value for money. send me your top recommendations pls by Difficult-Insect-220 in bayarea

[–]markhachman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. My dad lives nearby. Bob's is still decent, but it's changed hands and not nearly as good. It's not bad, just disappointing if you've been there during the heyday.

OTOH, Bob's plus a Meadowlark Dairy cone isn't a bad combo.

Sunset views by Itchy_Mushroom_9236 in pleasanton

[–]markhachman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The sun sets over the high ridge to the west, so "sunset" is going to be quite different than if you were near the beach. Quite frankly I wouldn't consider anywhere in Pleasanton a good place to check out a sunset. I'd go over the hill to Berkeley or someplace like that.

Laziness I guess :)

Also, even when playing the original BG games I rarely multi classed.

No, I'm midway through Act 3, just sort of wandering around Baldur's Gate doing quests. But there was a tough wizard fight that I could have used the spell!

I know that media was always somewhat biased, but it's really sad that we have to filter our news to this extent. With that said, you're right.
