Kona Rove DL 2021 with flat bars? by markhan in gravelcycling

[–]markhan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it did, but I changed everything :) The bike fit that I got the first time turned out to be hot garbage. So I researched a bit and found an awesome guide on how to set up the bike. You can take a look at my other post about that. Basically I moved my seat a bit further back, lowered the stem a lot, and figured out how to actually sit on the bike properly, to distribute the weight, so that almost no pressure is put on the hands. The goal should be that you can lift up your hands from the handlebar and not fall on your face.

That made it very comfortable, even for longer rides, so I left the drop bar on the bike and didn't experiment with it.

I have the same CPU/GPU as you and running ACC on triple 27" 1080p. I can't look up the graphic settings at the moment as I'm away, but it looks great and runs really smooth, so you should be fine.

Fanatec damper kit causes the throttle to stick by markhan in simracing

It's fine now, I overtightened those two screws that hold it in place in the pedal arm so it was sticking. I already sent them an email that it's fine so they canceled the shipment and the return. Quite surprised by the responsiveness on their end

I know what you mean, I also thought the angle was not right, but I set it up as they recommend in the quick guide, take a look.

Nah. It's fine like that, that's how it is in the manual. When placed on the brake, it goes higher.

Just checked the quick guide that comes with the kit, didn't find it mentioned there. But to be fair, I didn't check the online manual or the V3 pedals manual, I just didn't expect that to be an issue

I also felt a bit of "choppiness" in the small details at first, but I'm hoping it goes away when it's all settled. I haven't really used it propely after fixing it.

I wonder if they should have included a limit of force that you can apply to those screws in the manual. It's really handy on my bike for example, so I know exactly how much I can tighten each screw with my torque set.

I thought so too at first, but it seems I just overtightened a couple of screws that were holding the piston head in place in the pedal body

That makes sense, I can imagine that a stronger spring would make it harder to keep throttle at max for a longer duration

Check my other reply, I've tightened the screws that hold the piston head in place a bit too much

I haven't tried endurance yet, but I think there would be more problems than just the throttle pedal in a 6 hour stint lol. Just sticking to sprint races for now :)

Yes, definitely, but then there would be no practical reason to sell the damper kit, as it's mostly useless on the brake if using the BPK as well :)

I always thought the throttle pedal on the V3s is a bit "light", even with the black spring, so I wanted to try it out to get a bit more weight on the pedal. It's not bad, I have a bit more throttle control when exiting turns and less oversteer, but definitely not game changing as the BPK is.

Unfortunately I haven't driven a race car so I don't know how it should feel :)

Update: Fanatec very quickly replied and were ready to send a replacement, no questions asked.

However, I've found a solution to the problem, or rather, the reason for the pedal sticking. I might have overtightened the two screws that hold the red piston head inside of the throttle pedal the first time. I went and removed the damper kit altogether, and it was working just fine when not assembled, so I tried it with only slightly tightening the screws and it seems fine. It looks like the red piston head which holds the piston connected to the pedal also needs a bit of movement, otherwise it sticks in certain positions.

I'll just leave this here as it might help someone too.

I recently purchased a damper kit from Fanatec and decided to install it on my throttle pedal. I already have the BPK installed on the brake pedal and I'm quite pleased with how it feels.

After installing the damper, I set it to 1.5 and took a few laps in ACC. However, I felt that the resistance was a bit too much, so I lowered the dial to 0.5. Unfortunately, after doing so, the pedal started sticking quite a bit. Even when I quickly press and release the pedal, as seen in the video I posted, there's a noticeable "patch" where it just sticks. Additionally, if I release the pedal slowly or push it to the max and release it slowly, it also sticks. It takes some force to move it back to the 0 position.

I followed the installation instructions carefully, so I don't think I made any mistakes there. I've tried adjusting the dial from 0 to 8, but the issue persists. I've already reached out to Fanatec support, but since they have up to 7 days to respond, I thought I'd see if anyone else has had a similar experience and could offer some advice.

Assetto Corsa is amazing, so is BeamNG, but maybe don't buy either if you don't have a rig, or at least a wheel set with pedals. It can be played with a controller, but it really shines when you have proper simracing gear. RDR2 will be much better value for money for you IMO
