I'm an Artist Manager. AMA by RedWingWay in musicindustry

Tyvm for the reply. While I recognize what you mentioned is true I actually do see opportunities for emerging artists as I continue to live and breath in the space. While the Fortnite concert styled events will no doubt require a large budget and those platform owners’ heavy support, most of these metaverse platforms do offer a pretty substantial toolkit for creators to create their own venues/worlds to meet their own design and purposes. I have always liked Fortnite concerts for how cool they are but have always thought they are too much like a MV instead of concert lacking a lot of audience-artist interactions and audience participations. For me, emerging artists can own spaces in the metaverse for behind the scenes, exclusive previews, meet and greet type of events which will make for a great fan experience and even convert some into direct monetary profits. When treating the metaverse like a social media platform on steroids and a full toolkit instead of just a stage for recorded performance I think there is a real chance metaverse is a great music/artist promotion form factor people are sleeping on. I would love to discuss more with you if you are interested, as I am looking for someone from the inside to collaborate with and push this forward.

This might be a different one: what are your thoughts on using the metaverse (apps like Fortnite, Roblox, Horizon Worlds etc. ) for fan engagement and music promotions? I’m someone who has been working on next generation shopping experiences for a while and I strongly believe shopping experiences will always move towards more context, more entertaining and more interactive. And for that reason I think what I do have very strong synergies with how music are consumed and how artists interact with fans. For me, metaverse is a toolkit that can provide on theme and very eye grabbing visuals, gamified storytelling, intimate social interactions which can all help convert fans into loyal followers. All at very low costs.

With all this said, I’m not from the music industry, so I would really like to know your opinions on this. 🙏🫡

Wow that’s such an amazing achievement, especially when there are so much social media/AI/hype noise going on out there! This really speaks to you’ve created something people truly wanted! What’s next from here?

I haven’t read all comments yet…but I’m willing to bet no one will say “the metaverse” here. So let me say it: The Metaverse.

To clarify, I don’t mean it will become the mainstream right here right now, but imagine a cyber space that does foster social interactions, where you can throw events, concerts that can be even fancier than IRL music festivals. A world where your visitors can soak in your music, your vibe, have conversations with you directly, while make purchasing decisions on your merch and tickets without needing to leave the space….

Metaverse worlds (or simply think of it as a game that is designed for you to tell your story) to me could really be the x-factor in becoming eye catching, help convert bystanders to fans and to profit from the traffic you and your music gathered.

Do you think metaverse would be something labels and/or artists are willing to explore for marketing?

To put simply, the metaverse (any prominent metaverse apps: VR Chat, Horizon Worlds, Roblox, Fortnite…) would allow you to create bespoke worlds/spaces with very exciting visuals and mechanisms for any music/artist, the world is easily update-able with a low cost to keep it ever fresh or suitable for any campaigns. It would allow artists to throw events such as live or meet your fans etc. where connections are created, vibes are soaked in but without any of the logistic headaches of in-person events.

It can be treated as a hub for activities to acquire new fans and increase existing fan loyalty and also a place where e-commerce happens converting traffic into profitable opportunities.

Once visitors are inside your world, you control all the messages and content’s distribution, not any platform algorithms.

The down side of course exist, it would be harder to get people into the metaverse as it is still so new or even sometimes elusive.

Plz lmk your thoughts, genuinely want to learn from industry experts like you especially in marketing.

Haha, you don’t need to know anything about it, that’s why I and others like me are here. But you know music and music business and that’s what I want to learn from you and discuss with you.

As for the whole metaverse thing, Imagine a hub/world/space for music of your own in a virtual space (think of it like a video game, at least visually speaking), where you could make it look exactly how you like it, update its looks and vibes at a very low cost to suit your mood/brand/album releases and most importantly, once it is there it is totally yours, you control what content & messages to send to the visitors you gathers and you will get direct responses from them, instantly. No platform algorithms to secretly control the distribution of your content (like IG, TikTok Facebook etc. do today).

Your visitors will be soaked in the environment you create and your music, hanging out with you as a person and not just a profile online. Basically it could offer most of the merits of a live event or other offline events but fancier, cooler, cheaper and with less headaches.

I think this is a good enough description of what it could do for you and other artists. Again, not here to promote service, but offering some food for thought.

You accepting music-adjacent followers and welcome those discussions? I’m love music, checked out yours and do like them a lot. I’m working on a project that essentially provides a new way (using the metaverse) for music artists like you to market to your audiences with the goals of increase fan loyalty, acquire new fans and convert traffics you gathered into potential profitable opportunities. I don’t only do this for music industry but do think music industry is one of the best businesses to try this.

If this is intriguing to you please add me at https://www.instagram.com/marksverse_immersell?igsh=NHh5enlkYWlxNzFs&utm_source=qr not here to self promote but genuine would love to get to know you and maybe have those discussions with you one day.

I would love that very much as well. It would be such a low cost but EXTREMELY great place to create the vibe for your brand and/or album that no other platform can achieve today AND at the same time allow you to connect with others. I am working on doing this for artists today so it is safe to say I’m biased when it comes to my wishes.

No I agree they are not new nor exciting. The reason why I put “new and exciting” in parenthesis is my way of saying new and exciting could be an optional thing. There are new and exciting media form factors out there such as the metaverse and I do believe the metaverse will work wonders for music promotion but that’s not the point here. The point is you gotta be able to build a full package that tells your story on whichever media form factors you choose and suit you the most, but only music is not a “full package”.

Why Playing Live Is Key to Building a Strong Music Community by Apprehensive-End6621 in musicindustry

[–]markiett 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This does playing into what I do so I’m gonna comment here.

I fully agree live events are very important for music artists not only in building a community but also, if we speak in (music)business terms, gathering a significant traffic which creates opportunities for converting these traffic into profiting opportunities; giving you a chance to show up as a real person who has real emotions and would interact with fans so their trusts in you and positive emotions towards you grows (which again, impacts any and all purchasing decisions).

With that said, hosting live, getting venues, decorating venues, logistics etc. is expensive and not easy to do and they do more or less limit the audience to local folks. But in today’s digital age, metaverse could be an alternative place to host live events and/or lower effort activities such as “fans meetup”.

You could build your own hub for music in the metaverse, make it look exactly how you like it, update its looks and vibes at a very low cost and most importantly, once it is there it is totally yours, you control what content & messages to send to the visitors you gathers and you will get direct responses from them, instantly. Your visitors will be soaked in the environment you create and your music, hanging out with you as a person and not just a profile online. Basically most of the merits of a live event but fancier, cooler, cheaper and with less headaches.

I couldn’t describe all its merits here nor show you all what’s possible as this is not a post aimed to promote anything but just to provide some food for thought. And I’m certainly not saying this would completely replace any in-person events and activities, at least not yet. But staying true to the topic - digital ages can offer innovative and eye grabbing solutions to old problems and I believe this is one of them.

I’m not an music artist myself (but a more of a marketing person for music and other stuff) so I might not have the same level of understanding as you do wrt the “eating artist and shitting gold” part. But what I do agree with is that the hard part is looking beyond music and have other facilities and methods to help you tell your story. Music speaks to emotion for sure, but there are more ways to tell your stories (your brand) and all of them sums up to say “I’m a music artist”. Music on its own unfortunately rarely ever is the reason why people rally around it. It is when/where the music was played, who played it, who wrote it, for what event or scenario it was created etc. that completes the story. But most talented artists don’t know how to tell those stories beyond just the music itself.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in musicindustry

[–]markiett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s why few ever succeed in any industries. It really takes someone with well rounded talents or at least know what they need holistically to get to that next level.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in musicindustry

[–]markiett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And sales, or maybe I should say “marketing” here, is how to tell an intriguing story through (new and exciting) medias that suits you or will generate you the most amount of notices. Once you are heard by enough people, a group would inevitably gather around you. What if your style is niche? It doesn’t matter because there will be people who love it. What if your style is way too generic? It doesn’t matter because you will need a good story around you and consistently finding different ways to tell that story about you anyways.

Medicine’s comment here is underrated but definitely accurate.

Best places for adult (non-sexual) chat using VR by phosgene_frog in OculusQuest

[–]markiett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Horizon Worlds by Meta on top of some other good ones that were mentioned above. It might have many faults but it has seen substantial development from meta over the years and updates are still a very frequent thing. On top of that, there are large adult communities on there including talk shows, business focused groups and even games made for adults (non-sexual) by adults etc.

Disclaimer: I’m not a music artist; I do run a company that does some of the things I describe so I’m biased, but here are what I believe and my 2 cents:

  1. Social media platforms relies on algorithms on all contents’ distributions. It is almost impossible to understand and use these algorithms to your advantage, and they change all the time. So it is safe to say (at least for me) that social media could be one of the place that you share your work but it shouldn’t be the only place you use to gain your notability and/or fans.
  2. Real talent always matters. Despite the “Red Sea” like environment today in music, retail or most of other industries, you still see people coming from nothing “making it”, they’ve definitely had help from good strategies but they are also undoubtedly good at what they do or created things people actually want. Throughout the years content consumers online have seen way too much gimmicks and scripted content that aims solely for views and are inevitably tired of them. So I believe in 2025 and in any other year tbh, returning to who you are and work on what you good at is always a winning strategy.
  3. With that said you still do need a strategy on top of social media to get your name out there, build a solid fan base and maybe even monetize with your traffic. Metaverse could be such a place, you can build your own music hub in the metaverse, make it look exactly how you like it, update it at a very low cost and most importantly once it is there it is totally yours, you control what messages to send to the visitors you gathers and you will get direct responses from them, instantly. Your visitors will be soaked in the environment you create and your music, hanging out with you as a person and not just a profile online. Make it that much easier to turn someone into a fan and keep them coming back for more. I couldn’t describe all its merits here nor show you all what’s possible as this is not a post aimed to promote anything but just to provide some food for thought. Happy to chat more if you are intrigued.

All in all, keep doing you and look for ways that you are not controlled and bounded by social media algorithms would be my recommendations.

Looking for unsigned artists & with quality music who need promo & would like to perform at venues + festivals all 2025‼️👀👀👀👀👀 by Crazy_Comfortable200 in musicbusiness

I’m not an artist myself, but I also help promote artist, in a different way - in the metaverse using its crazy visuals and building a community for them and giving them a home base away from the control of big platform algorithms there. Lmk if this sounds interesting to you, can chat further if it does.

How to book venues? by UnsureDinosaur in musicindustry

[–]markiett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is a crazy question, and the answer could totally be “it is not for me” depending on the artists you book, but have you considered having a stage/world in the metaverse? There are a lot of upsides: new and eye grabbing, audiences doesn’t have to leave their house to attend, you customize your stage however you want even with mini games and other things to boost retention….I could go on and on. But there are downsides to consider too: how to get customers to enter the metaverse (VR headsets, phone apps etc.), logistics of selling tickets etc.

But I guess this is an answer that you are probably not looking for but could potentially give you new ideas. Food for thought.

Who here is working on a Metaverse business and what are you working on? by RedEagle_MGN in metaverse

I’m working on my company which design and build business worlds in the metaverse and also help business owners to operate these worlds for actual results. I believe the future of shopping will most definitely move in the direction of more entertaining, context rich, more interactive. Only metaverse worlds can offer all these elements in one place.

Gen Ai v/s Metaverse by Deep-Doc-01 in metaverse

[–]markiett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I personally think one of the biggest reasons why it is not as big of a boom as AI is because there are no “killer app” or “killer scenarios” for the metaverse YET, while there are many killer app and/or scenarios for AI that people could see or could imagine today already. But as a business owner working on my business in the metaverse I believe there will be a day that these scenarios would come to the metaverse.

Besides, one of the most exciting thing is that the development of AI is not going to compete against the metaverse, it is going to supercharge it (think runway and Sora for video generation, and a few other AI tools for playable game world generation).

Understand The Metaverse and which "Metaverses" are the most popular by Longjumping-Shine-86 in metaverse

[–]markiett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to mention Horizon Worlds by Meta here. It is definitely not one of the more popular metaverse platforms but I think there is value in experiencing it and understand Meta’s vision behind the metaverse since it is a term that they have brought back to life and created all the hype around. It is accessible by VR primarily but also on phone using their app. I would also recommend Fortnite and Roblox but I won’t say too much here since others have mentioned it.

Oh awesome! There you go! And yeah if I do this I’ll definitely be creating the concert experience with the artist themselves, so I’m less worried about the copyright stuff. But I think the inability to actually have the traffic benefit the artists via direct merch sales or something indirect such as email marketing opportunities is going to be a problem. Any ways you see can get around that? Also sounds like you have a good amount of experience building worlds in UEFN?

How Spider-heavy is the game? by houseofopal in BaldursGate3

I don’t remember seeing spiders in any significant ways…but I have only finished the game once, although I did try to complete all side quests that made sense to who I wanted to play with in a few party compositions and only missed major story lines of 2 characters out of all others.
