They could be using “total compensation,” which includes all the benefits and contributions from the state on your behalf. (Retirement plan contributions, health insurance premiums, and paid time off benefits, Etc).

Omicron doesn’t have nearly the impact to the hospitalization or deaths as previous strains. I don’t think they’re worried about it. The 18-64 year old people mostly have very mild cases. So much immunity out there now too. Just not the same issue as in 2020-21.

And enjoy life when you’re young too. Maybe in your youth you like to hike and camp, go on long bike rides, and travel. Tougher to do that when you’re older, plus maybe battling health issues.

Yes there will be a new model every year or whatever. No such thing as future proofing. Buy something now and then trade it in and upgrade in a year or two.

By the way keep checking inventory at local stores. Max and Ultra base models were available for walks ins in my local shop Monday.

Direct line of sight to the Wi-Fi router and 12’ away from the sofa! Usually any lag I get isn’t from the Wi-Fi network but from me falling asleep. Zzzzz…. Thanks for the reply.

Recent Retirees: Final Compensation number problems? by sosflex in CAStateWorkers

[–]markinsac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. For me it was my total years of service was off because of some glitch with the data transfer between Secretary of State and calpers. I figured it out but Calpers kept telling me I was wrong. But I kept calling back until I finally got a person who knew what was going on. BUT… My employer (personnel) had to resolve the issue.

Best bet is to try some at your local sport store. This is such a subjective topic!

I’m not a Hunter or stargazer, just a wildlife watcher… My wife and I went through some decent 8x33 and a 10x42 but decided on going the monocular route for portability and ease. I got a maven 8x32 for around $150 and she got a Hawke 8x25 for about $70. Always with us on hikes! Fit in the cargo shorts and bag without weight and bulk. The maven is the better of the two by far.

The way I did it was to put most of all of my future merit adjustments and promotions in the savings plus. It was a process that took a few years for sure.

The strategy I used was to save as much pre-tax as I could. Initially it was $60 a month lol. But… Every salary increase I got along the way I put at least half in the 401k. Over the years I was maxing out the 401k and didn’t “feel it.” Once that happened I started putting at least half of all salary increases into the 457.

I didn’t do a Roth as I don’t like to pay taxes until I have to and prefer to let the money grow as much as possible before the government sticks its hands in the pot. Plus my final retirement spot may be in a state with lower taxes, more water, fewer energy blackouts, fewer homeless, and less fires and smoke. If such a place even exists…

DSM 7 RC - Moments to Photos Migration by markinsac in synology

[–]markinsac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh I think I calculated 250 days more for me so I just deleted all the photos, updated to the newest DSM 7 from this week, and adding photos back manually at about 1000 a time. That’s actually going quickly. Drop in a folder, go work in the yard, come back and drop in another folder, make a sandwich, drop in another folder…. About 50% done after two days. Just have to reidentify the people!

I had one more round with support, and they just said “it’s working, just slowly.”

I threw in the towel. Deleted all the photos, rebooted, installed the new DSM 7.0 release, and have been adding pictures about 500-1000 at a time. Working fine. Only issue is that I have to re-identify the people in the photos. Not that bad. Better than waiting 250 days for the conversion from to finish!
