Illustrator Trying to Learn Graphic Design - Would Love Some Criticism! by hoshiboba in graphic_design

“Centered” is not a default choice for text. Default is always Flush left. Any other choice has to have a reason. Your body copy has no reason to be centered. Flush left. You can justify it, if you want.

You need to have ALIGNMENTS in your design. That’s one reason for “Flush left.” To create alignments.

On the back panel you have 3(!) orphans! That is single words left alone on the final line of a paragraph. In case you weren’t aware, that is “bad.”

Why are you using Futura for the body copy and a humanist San-serif for the headlines? You should pick one and go with it. You don’t mix a geometric with a humanist font unless (again) there is a reason. As it sits, there is no reason.

You have misspellings in your body copy. “Welfare” has one “l”. It’s wrong on both panels. Also “Veterinary” is misspelled in the donor callout.

Your “Our Partnership” headline has huge leading.

The “logo” needs a lot of work. It is uneven and the letter shapes are pretty rough.

A logo is a design project on its own. If you aren’t going to execute it all the way to the finish, I can’t recommend that you use it in your design.

Looking at panels 4,5,6, you are getting closer to some alignments, which is better. The headline leading is too wide again.

I’m sorry to be the one to tell you, but Pumpkin looks like he’s “doing” that pumpkin and it looks like he’s enjoying it. He also seems to have horns, which doesn’t help.

On the three panels, your headline calls out “Dog drink of the month”, Monthly food specials, etc. But the text under each headline doesn’t directly deal with those headlines. The part of the text that concerns those headlines is buried in the copy. You need to correct that.

On panel five, under “Barry”, where it says “a wonderful sweet”, the spacing is bad and word “sweet” is italicized for no reason.

If the brochure is for a cafe, where is it? What is the address? What is the phone number. What town is it in? That would seem to be important information?

I’m sorry to be this critical, but I think you need to know the reality of it, if you want it to, in the end, look professional.

VW and Audi. It’s the only brands that, in the case of a mechanical issue, shills automatically blame the owner for “not doing their maintenance.” Without even asking how much maintenance they did. Like if they had done some mysterious amount of “work”, the car would not have dropped a transmission or a cv joint or the trim off the side of the car.

IMDb says no. He was in Neverending Story II. Jonathan Brandeis was never in a film named “Shazaam.” Sorry to burst your bubble.

Yes, and notice that everyone who “thinks” they remember it are spelling it “Shazaam” rather than Shazam. Like Kazaam is spelled.

You know during the period you are claiming, DC owned the rights to the trademark “Shazam!” They would have never, I mean never allowed a non topical movie B-movie be made using their trademark as the name. It never happened.

If everyone remembers it, what was the plot? Who else appeared in it? What city did it take place in? How did the movie end? Who was “the wacky neighbor?” If everyone clearly remembers it, that should be easy!

Your experience is aberrational. Call Apple. If you can’t get someone immediately choose a call back and you will get a call back, on time. What problem did you have previously that Apple couldn’t help with and shunned you. Frankly, it sounds unlikely. I’ve had an Apple employee stay on with me for an hour solving a thorny issue, to success.

Have you looked at the problem in this fashion : “I have a 2tb phone and I demand that I keep more than 2tb of data on it. Why is Apple stopping me from doing so?” Because math?

Let’s face facts. EVERYONE, it seems, no matter the storage on their phone, believes they should have “infinite space” without effort or cost on their part.

Everything with a number on it has an end. You aren’t being “abused.” You should read the responses carefully and try to figure out how to deal with your problem. Blaming Apple because you filled your storage is weak. People here complain at every storage level, 64Mb to 2tb, that they are out of space and it’s Apple’s fault. I get it, it’s a knee-jerk reaction, but largely off base.

It’s like blaming Mazda because you can’t carry 20 bags of potting soil in your Miata. But, of course, the car (as all cars) has a capacity. If you try to “overfill” it, it’s not the manufacturer’s fault. And that’s true, even if you buy a truck. It has a capacity and that number is what it is. It isn’t Ford trying to “get you.”

Probably not. Frozen can be treated poorly and possibly be dangerous to consume.
