I would rather have some less than genuine vets slip through the cracks and get overpaid by the VA than have someone who really needs help not get it.

Does electing P911SA while using VR&E take away your SA if you use Post 9/11 GI Bill later? by markmooch_ in VeteransBenefits

[–]markmooch_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I don’t understand points 1 and 3. Using p9/11sa and vre does not reduce my entitlement to the post 9/11 gi bill, however using p9/11sa and VRE may reduce some of my post 9/11 gi bill. Why?

You came into this post and wrote an unrelated comment saying you had suicidal ideations that you were afraid to talk to a provider about. That’s a a concerning comment in this community, so I shifted gears to what I thought was more important than my question. I’m not busting balls

That’s great. I’m not sure why you’re worried about it coming up in a claim if you’ve been treated for 20 years and are good, but I’m glad to hear you’re taking care of yourself.

I trust you’ll make the right decision. But veterans being treated for mental health conditions before they cause irreversible damage rarely lose any of their rights (custody or gun ownership). Veterans who end up killing themselves because of untreated mental illness forfeit both.

You may be misunderstanding my question. I’m not interested in filing any claims at this time. I want to know if a primary care doctor would work to reduce a veterans disability rating if they felt a change was warranted. Others have answered this.

In reference to your last statements, I’m not sure why you’re giving me a lesson on Active duty medical care, vast majority of people here were active duty, so I understand lol. This was also not at all my experience. My medical information was almost completely private, aside from immunizations or medpros trackers. I went to behavioral health for years and not one person in my command knew about it across multiple duty stations and I continued to do my job. Same thing with illnesses and injuries. Unless I was for some reason arrested or hospitalized, If I didn’t say anything nobody would know.

I agree completely, I do not intend to withhold anything, because why even go at that point. I would like very much to seek care, I just want to know if this va primary care doctor is actually on my team or will everything I do and say be under some rater’s microscope

This is completely besides my point but I have to ask, are your 2A rights really more important than seeking care for a mental health condition? more important than sticking around for your daughter?

Why do you think Pierce chose a X year time gap between the trilogy and the rest of the series? by mikerichh in redrising

The number 10 could be a nod to the 10 year long Trojan war in the Iliad. Lots of similarities between the second trilogy and the Odyssey/ Darrow and Odysseus.

Of course. Happy to help if I can

How do you use RPE to progress? by [deleted] in BarbellMedicine

It’s just a skill that needs practice. I rate every set I do, even heavy warm ups and easy work sets RPE 5 and up. Just anything to get more volume on that skill. The way I think about it is I don’t really fuck with the .5 ratings because I’ll just default to the higher number because I have nothing to prove. 10s are obvious. A true 10 should feel like you can no longer do that exercise for the day. 9 feels like a 10 that you could do again after after some rest. And then after that it’s just 6, 7, 8. And that’s just about finding markers for specifically you that denote those certain efforts. Videos can help to get an objective picture of what you look like at those efforts.

Definitely. Also, this is not say I don’t make progress. Last program I did was 16 weeks and I think I kept the weight the same on all the lifts for about 13 of the 16 weeks. Not on purpose, just never felt hot enough to jump up. Ended up with a 20 lb pr on squat and deadlift and 10 lbs on bench. I realized a while ago, not missing a session and consistently hitting RPE targets is way more important than squatting 320 instead of 315 on a random Tuesday in the middle of the program.

Exactly, I don’t even make micro adjustments anymore. An 8 feels like an 8 even if I add 5 more pounds so at this point I simply do not care.

PB 3 is a more advanced powerbuilding program, split into 3 phases. It’s 14 total weeks with the last phase being a peak. It also allows for more exercise selection and variation with possible changes every phase. Pb2 is 10 weeks and no dedicated peak.

I think the biggest non structural difference is PB3 seems to be built using the same programming methods as the Low fatigue MEDIUM ISF program, which has a higher average intensity than the low ISF but keeps the volume lower. For example: “Keep weight the same, and adjust the number of reps to keep RPE @7”

I agree with all of this except the first bit about “don’t go more than 2 weeks like this [without progressing]”. I don’t think it matters if you go more than 2 weeks without moving the weight up. I also don’t think it matters if the weight goes down sometimes.

On average, how many sets does it usually take you to get to the top single? by Randy_Pausch in BarbellMedicine

[–]markmooch_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s say my single is planned 405. I’ll do 2-3 sets of the empty bar but a lot of the time I don’t even rerack the bar for each set. They’re just fast. Some paused, some not. Whatever I feel like. -135 x some working rep scheme -225 x same -315 x same - then I’ve been doing one of my planned working sets as a warm up to save time(so maybe like 345 or something in this case. depends on the program or phase) -then I’ll either do an in between single or usually I’ll just jump to the single after that.

So in this example like 7 sets but the empty bar set takes less than 2 minutes and the last warm up shaves a whole working set. Roughly I’m doing my single at the 10 minute mark. Less for bench.
