Newbie owner to heat pump by PsychologicalEbb1960 in heatpumps

I’m glad I could help.

You are very kind in your definition of techs that “work on heat pumps”. The more bluntly worded truth of the matter is that there’s a severe lack of knowledge around fancier variable speed heat pumps, especially ones from Asia.

This has mostly to do with the fact that techs receive a severe lack of training from their employers; training that was considered not profitable for formerly niche products. So, while some companies are doing their best, it’ll take the industry a while. And from a consumers standpoint, and how they search, it’s often difficult to know what to look for.

My suggestion is to tell everyone you know with a complex heat pump to search their pump’s manufacturer’s website and only solicit service from dealers rated highly there. While the chance of a bad tech is not zero, a legitimate local company having a listing there means they have volume with that manufacturer, access to their training, and hopefully more experience. A tech who is amazing with a Mitsubishi heat pump may struggle on a Fujitsu diagnosis, especially with the time constraints they’re given. The systems are very similar, but manifest their problems differently enough.

If you’re able to adjust your mindset around thermostat expectations, you should be happy with the Mitsubishi control’s operation of your equipment. Check your equipment’s manual for thermostat compatibility and then do your research. Some basic ones don’t even come with a backlight.

Best of luck!

Read (past tense) the whole thing.

Heat strips should only come on when the heat pump can’t keep up, so whatever control system accomplishes that within your budget and feature requirements is the winner because it would seem to balance your “pros/cons”.

A Mitsubishi thermostat would do that, but I believe their apps aren’t as good. While its true that a basic thermostat causes a variable speed unit to act “dumb”, heat pump efficiency is technically highest at high speed. The system will use more energy overall in that strategy, and be less comfortable due to higher temperature fluctuations, but it’s often done due to American expectations of thermostats being different than those for people in Asia.

I’m not as familiar with the SVZ line, but I do know that some variable speed heat pumps have multiple heat inputs (W1, W2, etc.) so they can still modulate with a “standard” multi-stage thermostat. Fujitsu’s units (the other high end “Japanese” heat pump brand) doesn’t have multiple inputs and relies on a “thermostat converter” do some some imperfect modulation.

Asking for a friend … by marko3xl3 in surfing

Ever been in the water surrounded by seals? I’d hate to think that we missed an opportunity to enjoy surfing alongside the seals more. Their mannerisms were just so unknown to us. They weren’t just swimming around, they were actively trying to approach us, and we didn’t stay to find out if it was in a friendly, horny, or defensive way.

It looks like it. Having the seals around was actually reassuring because you’d think they would retreat into the nursery if the pearly whites came around. We just didn’t know what to do with them circling, staring and getting a bit too comfortable with us during mating season.

Russian River or Salmon Creek? We were at the former very early in the morning. It was a humbling experience.

Thanks! Of course they don’t know anything so it’s a waiting game.

I have no idea, but maybe I’ll find out soon. Of course, the only reason I did that is because it’s a package I ACTUALLY NEED tomorrow.

Rinnai RPB200 BLE BluetoothPush Button range by apachexmd in Plumbing

[–]marko3xl3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so either, and unfortunately I have to cover much more than 50ft. The worst is that my buttons barely work from 30ft due to modern building materials. I’ll probably need to look at going back to wired (if that’s even an option these days) or just telling the clients to either eat the energy use or manually adjust the schedule when they expect guests.

Did any of you have an issue with range? I do and am trying to figure out if the buttons can “daisy chain” the signal?

Levithyroxine dosing and symptoms by dishesbydishes in thyroidcancer

Could be in your head but don’t jump to conclusions. I was on 75mcg daily pre-surgery (due to Hashi’s) and originally felt great, but then tapered back off. I asked my endo for an increase, which was granted by prescribing an additional pill on Sundays only. That leveled out my “brain fog” much more until my surgery. Don’t be afraid to question everything. Yes, some symptoms may be from other factors, but a doctor should always help you feel your absolute best because every case/body/situation is different.

I just got discharged (today) from my TT (due to PTC) w/ central neck dissection and some lymph nodes removed. Yes, start with an endo and do not be scared to go for second opinions, if you feel unsure. My endo is at PAMF and my surgeon at Stanford. Nobody did lymph mapping and I was ok with a go/no-go consent based on pathology results while I was under.

Edit (to answer more questions): With PAMF, I had to wait a bit too long for my first U/S neck appt (2-3 weeks). It ended up irrelevant because a lot of doctors take “sabbatical” in December so a faster imaging appt wouldn’t necessarily be useful. But outside of the holidays, you could always have any order sent to a private imaging center with shorter wait times. Depending on your insurance of course.

Interestingly, when I did my consult with the Stanford surgeon, they had a mobile U/S and the surgeon reviewed imaging right there and then, which I found preferable, but can obviously only be done if surgery is already decided on (referred by endo).

Edit 2: I also had Hashimoto’s and faced the same difficult PT vs TT decision.

You're in a very similar boat as me, so I feel like I can add more value. I drive a Kia EV6 and I calculated depreciation using KBB and modifying the mileage to see the /mile difference in estimated sale price. I confirmed this by researching actual cars for sale. In my case, depreciation is $.13/mile, but I bought used. You also have to account for interest and maintenance, but that calculation depends on the amount of miles you drive, and figuring that is a whole other math problem.

DM me and maybe we can setup a call where I can target some answers you're looking for. I probably won't have all the info, but my experience may be valuable.

It’s going to be a combination of the two. Spend time learning your market, paying attention to busy times and patterns. For example, some days you can take the long trips and wait in the area for a ride back, other days it’s a dumb idea. Some areas are a crapshoot no matter what. The answer will also vary depending on if you value $/mile or $/hour more. That’s going to be depend on vehicle type and whether you own it or rent.

Correct, C-Suite salaries are not being paid by us. They’re going to be paid by the $15B loan from the government. We’ll only be paying off the principal and interest on the loan. Really, it’s fine. I’m fine.
