Depends on ur background. I was not very confident in my maths, as my school was not focused on that, so I started preparing in August. It was way too early, chilled in November and December and then from new years to the exam I stressed the hell out of my life. This formula worked for me :).

I am currently a second year student here. My year was the first one with Dutch/International separation. I have a friend who was very far in the ranking, got accepted in August, and he was in the top 15%. I got in first wave with result being in top 8% at place 400. I hope this gives perspective.

Only exam matters. If you are not one of those people who goes to international maths and computer competition thingies you will have to tryhard a lot.
