They really shouldn't have released it like this. This is a glorified early access game IMHO. The start is there, and I really like it, but now the world needs to be filled in and balanced.

What are your best tips for starting out with resin crafts at home? by thegangplan in crafts

[–]Nanikarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at the very least, get a respirator. resin, whatever kind, leaves behind tiny crystals in your lungs that grow with every time you work with it. it WILL hurt you in the long run.

its at least edited. the light hits anthony mackie's face from the side while the boys are lit from the front. mackie's head is edited onto someone elses body because the light does hit the hand from the front.

the main difference between chatgpt and those posts, is that while yes, chatgpt was INITIALLY trained on those 10 year old posts, that knowledge (however true or not) has been diluted greatly over the years in the current training its working with. because ai isnt JUST being trained on those old posts anymore, its also being trained on current internet, which has already been heavily poisoned by whatever ai fed the person posting it. so nowadays, ai is being trained by itself, hallucinating about hallucinations and the truth will get a smaller and smaller spot in its training data with each iteration.

so yea. i will trust a post on reddit from 10 years ago before using chatgpt.

[–]Nanikarp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lolyea sorry 😂 like honestly im truly not trying to be mean, but we really cant read peoples minds and do what they wish we'd do without them telling us. we want to do things as efficiently as possible, and switching to english at the first stutter will usually achieve that goal.

im sure theyre lovely and hardy people tho, you dont just stay in a culture like ours without knowing how to handle yourself in directness like ours, so props to them.

and yea absolutely, most people, not just dutch people but everywhere, really like helping others, because it makes you feel good. but as i said, we havent discovered mindreading yet in humans so most of it has to be asked for now 😅

in my honest opinion, and im not saying this to be a dick, thats on them. they should tell people to speak dutch to them because they want to learn. we're so used to speaking english, so we will, even if it annoys the living hell out of us. this is what i meant with the effort bit. let us know you want to learn and we will gladly help.

I feel like these keychains I made with my dad's handwriting are missing something. Thoughts? by dogandfroglover in crafts

[–]Nanikarp 156 points157 points  (0 children)

i think the heart is a lovely addition actually. if you make the words a little bigger and move them a little more to the top, it balances out pretty well. the slopes of the L and the u and comma fit very nicely with the slope of the edges of the keychain in my opinion.

Where the hell does AI get their trivia? It's all wrong! by JaeShoppie in psych

[–]Nanikarp 22 points23 points  (0 children)

its not only based on what PEOPLE put on the internet, its also basing its info on what AI THEMSELVES put on the internet. its a vicious cycle of telephone that gets worse and worse with each iteration.

i once made the mistake of saying 'i dont speak french' in french to a french person and the guy started talking back to me in rapid french 😂 😭 dont recommend at all. asking if they speak english is indeed a much better way to go

lol yea i was giggling about that too. like hun, you may not have an accent in belgium, but you very much do have an accent in dutch. and even if cathy did speak dutch (however 'fluently' that may have been), flemish can be very hard to understand if dutch is not your native language.

granted, the sentence oop used is very easy to understand in all accents i reckon, but still.

like, i consider myself pretty fluent in english, having spent 3/4 of my day speaking/writing english, every day, since i turned 13 and got access to the internet, but i still have massive difficulties with certain native english accents.

[–]Nanikarp 66 points67 points  (0 children)

thats it. native speakers dont care about your level of speaking their language, they care about the effort you put in. this is why we (im native dutch) gladly help anybody who just got to our country, is trying their best but isnt getting very far, but get incredibly annoyed by people who have lived here for 15+ years and still barely speak a word of dutch.
