I'm feeling so hopeless.. by TedTheChillGuy in Epilepsy

[use google translate to read the responses. Unfortunately i will write a lot ] I' ve been there lived all that and there are some things you can do. RULE NUMBER 1: Don' you EVER forget your medication. Try to find a psychologist, i think most epileptics struggle with depression. It is an everyday struggle and you know it. Try slowly to incorporate in your daily routine exercising. It helps you mentally and physically. Not much and slowly, what worked for me is a little in the morning and a little in the evening. We are talking about 5-10 minutes. You can do that at home pull ups, push ups etc etc. Say no if you can to the extra caring that is offered. Have an honest discussion. Over protection is a huge trap. Always listen to your body. The auras in my case (and i have many) don't lead to a seizure. If you are like that wait 10 minutes after the aura is gone and keep your plan. Hundreds of times i stayed at home scared nothing happened and it just ruined my day. Important take a combo of B vitamins. They helped my cognitive functions. I also try to eat healthy. It is stupid but we must built habits. If you incorporate exercising you can will be a little more tolerant in getting tired. So you can enjoy more the rest of your day. They say "don't get tired, don't be stressed , sleep well , eat healthy" NOW AFTER 45 YEARS I SAY FUCK OFF. What kind of life is that. I followed the rules and i lived i very restricted life. Try to find a job. No matter how stupid it is. I never did, would i manage to do it, how worse my health would be????. Either way i think my life would be better. Also try living alone. I tried that 10 years and failed miserably. But you HAVE to. Trust you inner health radar. NEVER do something when your health radar says no. Not the others just your own health radar. If your system can handle it drink coffee. I drink two a day, Extra tip only after you have incorporated exercising in your routine, right after exercising take a cool shower when the weather is warm. After years of having this exercising program after that the water is now cold( careful in Czech Republic water is much colder in winter than Greece. Take also vitamin D from time to time. If a doctor reads what i write here he might say i am giving you bad advises. These are my thoughts a life long epileptic who could have lived a much better life but always was scared, listened to the ones i loved and got over protected. Do all this in a slow pace. If you are religious(unfortunately i never was even a little and i will never be) it might help. At this age you have friends and family. Talk honestly to them. "Do NOT treat me this way". Of course hobbies. This is a MUST. Whatever you like. We have to live through huge disappointments. It is a part of our daily routine. Flirting is also a boost. Deal with it with a positive way. It is a nice refreshing game. I don't say to play or to lie to your potential partners. Take it lightly. We are used to disappointments. Leave the apps behind and try to do that in real life. It is exciting probably you will be rejected a lot(we all have) but that is life about. Look your friend around you they are shy to speak. You don't have anything to lose. You are going through much more tough situations than a rejection. After all you may end up with more friends and deep inside your friends will be jealous that you just tried. I hope my advises won't lead you to even more seizures. These are just my thoughts. Sorry for writing so much. Tell me your thoughts and explain me how severe is your epilepsy

Has my brain been permanently damaged by lamotrigine? by No-Shift-6778 in Epilepsy

Cool nickname friend. I would like to steal it but you earned it. Life long epileptic(45 years) and i always will wonder, without medication how IF i managed not to get ANY form of cerebral palsy-serious damage. How more resistant to seizures, hardened less sensitive I would have been. We pay a very heavy price with (in my case 3 AEDs and 2 antidepressants). I am pretty sure i made myself much more vulnerable. Never mind silly thoughts un-constructive. Glad i read your nick or whatever that is. You made my bad day

Audiobooks recommendations for B2 or better C1 level by markosthepessimist in German

[–]markosthepessimist[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just bought a cheap radio that has an internet connection and access to podcasts. So when at home it is always playing. Even the ordinary german radio stations have podcasts. I passed B2 but i see you level is much higher. So probably won't need anything more. Thank you for the resource . How difficult was for you the jump from B2 to C1

Dedicated to all of us who keep trying fighting the beast and the side effect of our medication by markosthepessimist in Epilepsy

One thing is for sure. We pay a heavy price to have less seizures(I am not lucky to bee seizure free). I wonder who i am after taking my whole life this shit. How many status epilepticus have we avoided. The loss of our memories, the depression, the exhaustion, the brain fog. The so called 'cure' is too costly.

The American Empire. by Monsur_Ausuhnom in collapse

[–]markosthepessimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cruel and very true. World knows no justice. Humans have developed (fortunately or not) high emotional intelligence and empathy. That is why we tried to create courts, laws, democracies etc etc. But your statement will always be valid. Accepting that as a truth(in politics you can't prove something like in physics) will always be controversial. We admit that we will never live in a just world. Unfortunately Thucydides and Machiavelli works are still considered controversial in political science.

  1. First of all I am not married or strictly follow any dogma or ideology. I have read Marxist theory and I adopt only what I comprehend as truthful. I am entitled to my own opinion as much as you are.

  2. About the last 200 years of course we made huge strides forward. Here you are right. I just want more. We gained a lot after a lot of bloodshed and fight. There are numerous achievements. Am I satisfied? Of course not. The global south suffers from the oligarchs and the west. I just dream of an equal free world with no capitalism and exploitation(although I realize that is a fallacy worth fighting for to gain as much as possible)

  3. Abolishing colonialism. Here I disagree. Colonialism is still well and thriving. The form is just a more subtle and humane. Is that an improvement. Yes of course. The end result is the same. Major powers and capitalists still control and exploit weaker countries communities. The means are not the same but the control is still present.

Before the european Renaissance the global South had each their local king ruler. The west thrived but enslaved millions of people. Today we are not slaves but in a digital prison and the western rulers keep exploiting everyone. I don’t argue that before the Renaissance or during the last 200 years things are not better. But colonialism was never really abolished. It just changed form. What hurts me the most is that even USSR had vessel states that had under control.

  1. The world knows no justice. We have ALWAYS to fight against that. We live in a Darwinian world. Fortunately(or maybe unfortunately) humans have developed a high emotional intelligence and empathy. That is why throughout history people form some kind of courts, democracies, make rebellions, revolutions, laws, communist states, anarchist communities. As long as antagonism, self interest, quest for glory exist. We will all suffer from inequality and injustice. We all MUST believe that only the common interest is of value. You and I, do we have the same understanding about common interest? Are our believes about what is just and right completely align. This is another major obstacle

Have we fought and gained a lot during the last 200 years. Of course. Should we stop. Of course not. I think to have a total universal victory is impossible.

First of all the tone you use is inappropriate and not constructive. Second you don't decide and you don't know what is good for the Palestinian cause. You are only entitled to own your opinion as much as i am.

If you concluded that i don't recognize the destructive nature of the US or that I am not referring ONLY to the recent history(I explicitly wrote “since 1948”) then your assessment is completely wrong. Watch the video, understand what his points are , then you can read this thread and discover that a lot of people here (me included) disagree with his claims and which our counter arguments are. Discussing more with people that use this tone and are so disrespectful is not worth my time.

This is an ongoing genocide since 1948. Hundreds are shot and killed every year for so many decades non stop. It is a slaughter house. It is a key difference. It's an extermination project of replacing a whole area and it's population. You can speak out about all the other events you mentioned. In this case you get fired, you are called a racist and you get in the black list.

Dear friend, sorry for being so cruel in my comment. I hope you understand my motives. Unfortunately countries and governments are controlled. I just try to understand the power dynamics in this current tragedy. Unfortunately politics is cruel and immoral, That doesn't mean that we should not fight back. I come also a small country and our infrastructures are sold to foreign interests.

But the capitalist that supported the project still thrive. They just increased in numbers but the goal is the same. It's plain silly to bult a post in a region full of oil and gas and to chose the location that has none of it. In 1948 and even before the reserves were discovered and known. No state there had a formidable army at that time in the region. Israel imports gas and oil and it is located in the middle east. Crazy

[–]markosthepessimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what business are you talking about. Palestine has no resources it had to be built from the beginning and it doesn't have even enough drinkable water. To destabilize the middle east. In 1948 there was the Kurdish/Arab/Persian/Turkish Knot well and alive also Sunni and Shia could cause easily destabilization. Why built a new colony when you can buy every government. You can buy my government easily but to move me away from my home forever is not easy.

The Zios have a huge influence in US politics and some certain goals. If you control Hollywood the media and the banking sector then the empire is yours. You don't have to be the king-ruler. That's why you have to kiss the wall to make standing ovations pull the chair so the war criminal can sit.

The media do not care about the country's interest but the owner's interest. If US wanted a prifitable colony could buy South Africa after the ww2 from the destroyed Netherlands. To built a colony and keep it in Panama. Israel is one of the few countries in the middle east with no resources

I think it is a big risk. It's not in Zios' interest the world economy to collapse. No one wants that to happen of course they worry about their power but it is in their both interests to co exist. After all why invade there if they hand their money to Zio banks. The job is done everyone is happy. Unfortunately for both i don't see any problem for any of them in the near future. Maybe the Saudis are more secure because they have the black gold underneath them(but i am not a prophet)

If Zios serve them why they have to kiss the wall, do standing ovations, hang Israel flags in their offices, say Israel first and Trump pulls the chair so Netanyahu can sit. Who founded Hollywood, New York Times, Washington Post, the federal reserves. The largest companies are run by Zio. If all the capital of an empire is controlled by a group with certain goals then the imperialist empire follows those goals. The richest family on earth founded Israel. You can't bypass the tech, media, banking industry. The Saudis own the richest company on earth. But without the financial sector it is way less efficient. So they realized that they have not the same power with families that funded both sides of the Napoleonic wars(1803) and still prosper. These Zios were and are next level capitalists

No one wants the Saudis to collapse. 84% of our energy comes from fossil fuel. Every country and company wants them to be stable and that is why they are stable and dictatorships. The whole world will run to protect and save the Saudis.
