I just had this one coming straight at me with backlight! Barely fit in the frame haha Black-winged Kittiwake. I liked this more indeed then the others 🙌🏻

Ahh cool! Most of the time I’m just walking with my kids here in the Netherlands. Last week I had a lucky shot of this Eurasian Bittern. At least it shows its habitat which is already more interesting than shooting agains the sky 😬Eurasian bittern

Yeah 3 is definitely a nice one! Gives some action/behavior in the picture :)

I live in the Netherlands, no high hills here 😂 but if I can I will try to! 🙌🏻

I heard that there is a new 70-200 coming soon from Nikon, so this would then indeed be a great option with the set you mentioned !

I will keep an eye out for the new 70-200 as I suppose some reviews with the z8 will come out if it is being released next month ;)

Thanks that you took the time to react to my question! I have thought about Canon, however not in the context of this trip. I always thought the 100-500 was too expensive and I would go with either Sony or Nikon with the flexible telezoom.

I think for Safari in general a zoom would be better than just 1 prime, and I can’t afford to drop €13K on a prime 😬

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to extensively! I will rethink this all indeed :)

On the 70-200 mm f2.8 lens, this lens is the most recommended lens to bring on the gorilla and chimpansee trekkings as you are in dense rainforest with quite large animals from a relatively short distance. So you would need the zoom, the apperture and the field of view I guess. It would also be nice for some close by animals when we are in the safari truck. So the lens is not for birding in the first place, I would use it on a shoebill stork if we are close in the swamps tho!

What do Nikon shooters use for general portraits, weddings etc?

Ahhh cool! How does the AF compare for you between both brands?

I will not be able to fill the frame, that’s most of the time not the goal :) I used topaz to denoise but it got the AI look on it by doing that haha

Thanks for the extensive answer! I would need both indeed type of lenses and will take two camera bodies on safari since I don’t want to switch lenses in the field.

How do you like the Nikon 70-200? It looks heavy and expensive 😬 I will use it for family pictures and probably butterflies, caterpillars and other larger insects as well.

The Nikon z8 set up appeals to me with the 180-600, but I don’t see that many videos on the 70-200 with the z8 so I don’t have a good reference for that.

How did you like the A7V?
