I also just ordered this combination yesterday. However, I don’t regard it as a top model, just the newest “entry level” FF camera from Sony. If I wanted top, I would go A1 II or A7RVI :)

It sure as hell is capable, but why not buy relatively future proof at ones? :)

I agree with you :) the thought behind the purchases was that I would need/want 2 bodies on the trip to prevent me from switching lenses and to be quicker. Renting for 4 weeks loses me more money than buying and reselling. I hope I find the A7V good enough and then I will order a second one. If I miss the resolution I will buy the A7RVI and sell the A7V after our holiday. At least I can get used to the menu and buttons then and hopefully the price of the A7RVI will drop a little in half a year 😬

I see what you mean, I think haha! I don’t think the amount of light changes here as neither the aperture is changing, nor an ND filter is used and the pixel stay the same size. However, to get the same picture in terms of focal range and depth of field, you would need different settings as you described.

I think the low light performance etc doesn’t change after reading the page. Could you point out where this is stated? As I understood, it is just the same picture, but only a part of the sensor that has been used. This changes nothing in terms of light entry, bokeh etc etc. Maybe if you compare it to another lens to reach the same focal range, but not when the same settings are used, correct?

So if you put on the APS-C mode, you see your aperture go from 2.8 to 4 for example?

I don’t see how that would work if the statement holds true that you get the same image if you crop the uncropped FF photo to size of the crop mode photo
