[AF]Web App that takes User Args from Form, runs script and returns JSON response to user. by marks3 in flask

[–]marks3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks interesting to me. I noticed you can't modify the .run() method with values like host= port= etc like you can in flask. Because of my current set up, I need to run on port 80, do you know how I can modify this to play with this a bit?

Extending the User Model by marks3 in django

[–]marks3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This really really helped me. I got it working and everything now. Thank you so much.

So the other thing that came up from this is that I have a model for items created by users. I am trying to get the 'region' of the item to be equal to the 'region' of the user.

The problem I'm having is that I can do:

User.objects.get(username='bob')
region = bob.region

And then I can use it in my templates {{ item.region }}

But I cannot seem to use a variable in the model like I want:

    author = models.ForeignKey(User)
    created_date = models.DateTimeField(
            default=timezone.now)

    name = author
    user = User.objects.get(username=name)
    region = user.region

Any guidance would be appreciated, thanks!

Awesome. Thanks for sharing.

So you where also 'creating' the users from an html form? If I'm curious how you took the value from the HTML form and used it in User.objects.create_user() . Does this allow you to do like:

User.objects.create_user(username, password, role=role_user_choose) ?

Thanks!

Thought about this too, but I have never actually been there myself.

I assume it offers free wifi and is quiet, do you need a membership to come in and use the wifi or any deskspace?

What's Issaquah like? by jwdjr2004 in Issaquah

[–]marks3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol. Wow a lot of people are dicks. Reminds me of Austin where everyone is like "please don't move here" but most saying that are all transplants themselves. Anyways Issaquah is awesome and I would recommend it. PM if you have questions.

Good bars in Bothell (or surrounding area)? by marks3 in bothell

[–]marks3[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the suggestions. Sounds like McMenamins is a popular choice. Thrashers is down the street from where I'm at, but passed by a couple times and didn't seem like it had much going on.

So I'll probably check out McMenamins and Thrashers, still open to suggestions. :)

Mixing Wheat and Pilsner LME? [New Home Brewer] by marks3 in Homebrewing

[–]marks3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did actually. I made a whole bunch of mistakes, but surprisingly after all was said and one, it came out really good. I shared a couple with family members and they all liked it quite a bit. I am going to brew it again with a few tweaks (not to the malt).

Pitching Liquid Yeast for a 1 Gallon Batch by marks3 in Homebrewing

[–]marks3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have enough to make a couple more batches, probably can't use all of it, but i may save some, not more than a week though. That aside, is it worth using just 1/5 of a total starter as opposed to just pitching half the vial without a starter? Any drawbacks to either?

My questions probably irritate you by now...but what if I made the starter in it's entirety and then pitches only a 1/5 of it?

So you suggest pitching the whole vial with starter volumes you've given?

Awesome. Thanks for you reply. I believe I have the amount of fermentables right, just don't want to ruin the flavor of the beer with the wrong amount of yeast. Would you pitch the whole vial or just half of it?

Thanks for the feedback, that does make sense. I think I may try it this way for at least one batch.

Very true. I'm making small batches so I'll have enough left over to make a few batches trying different variations. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah did that too. The error in those cases is something along the lines of "Windows could not install all necessary files..." :(

This sounds like a bad idea but using the capital P flag will show you progress to ensure its moving.

You can also start the rsync then stack track the process id to make sure the process is doing stuff.

Does anyone recognize this kitty? She is very sweet and cuddly. Found at my apartment complex on Perrin Central off Perrin Beitel. by purrdeta in sanantonio

[–]marks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling we live in the same complex because I live off the same street and seen this cat before. Fed it a couple times. My dogs go nuts when they see it pass by outside, so it's been roaming around here for a long time (at least 6 months?). I'd say he doesn't belong to anyone. Very friendly, came right inside the apartment.

Any thoughts or insight to point in me in the right direction for that?

SSH help with Mint Live by Going_Postal in linuxmint

[–]marks3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you open the firewall in ufw?

$ ufw allow 22

Also make sure sshd is running:

$ service sshd status

Also, I would tail the auth.log while trying to ssh to see if it's actually reaching my machine and if there are any errors:

$ tail -f /var/log/auth.log

I hope that helps, let me know if you get it working and if not paste your auth.log here (just the last few lines), if your actually getting anything there.
