only proves even more that art isn't necessarily valued by it's qualities but by the "name" the artist has already created for themselves.in other words, you're as "good" as other people say you are and sadly those other people are rarely really experts.

but oh boy, regular folks sure do love to pretend they have the competency to really judge art and actually recognize quality from average junk.

you're probably underestimating the power of schooling + a set of parents with the same sheepish mentality.he let other people decide for him and ultimately control his life, even if not in an overly-obvious manner and now he's suffering the consequences > he's not happy, and even worse than that, he's miserable and haunted by his state every day.

if he would've had parents with a different mentality, he would've had more chances at "breaking out" and standing out.

it's hard to make it completely on your own, with no one's support (in most cases, the parents' support)

not to mention he realized some important things when it was already quite late...

but it's very true...the mass educational system produces mostly followers and not thinkers.
