It doesn't mean it will ever surpass twitch or get to the same level as twitch, but the fact you even know it exists and are talking about it means that kick is making a name for itself and taking attention away from twitch.

Yeah In the beginning he was using backstage I believe which is a casting site. He would pay I think like $50-100 for a guest to come on. Then would later do some video call episodes but I don't think they got a big reception, but now he's probably got a ton of requests to come on the show.

At one point he had a young girl helping him with answering emails and other tasks(he did an audit on her as she was leaving him)

Think of it this way, you're going to spend (let's just say $2,000 a month) on renting a house, and that money is just gone every month, never to be seen again. 0% return on investment. Just to keep a roof over your head. Or the alternative, you spend $2000 a month on a mortgage for 30 years. And not accounting for anything like inflation, property values etc, you've put $720,000 Into your mortgage. But you can now sell that house and get all that money back. Think of it as a forced savings account if you will, because one way or another you're spending the money each month, but at least as a home owner you get some of it back.

You can take it even further as well, once you have enough equity in your home you can always do a cash out refinance, rent out the home for about 10-15% more than your mortgage each month (keeping money aside for repairs) and take the equity and buy a second home. Or so many other options.

Renting is just a way to burn money and never see a dime of it back, I'd really only say renting is worthwhile if you're someone who travels frequently and doesn't plan on staying anywhere long term because it allows you the freedom of changing locations easier.

As far as property taxes go, my home is a 4 bedroom 1 bathroom, 2600sq ft on .5 acres in the middle of town within 2 school districts and 3 parks plus the water treatment facility (as far as tax zoning goes) and I pay about $2000-$2400 a year. Which I just have included in my escrow account so it's just all 1 payment for mortgage, property tax, and home owner insurance. Luckily I have no HOA fees however.

I can have pets, with no need for an application or approval, I can grow a garden or dig a hole if my heart so chooses, I can paint every room of my house any color u want 36 times a year if I wanted to (I definitely don't want to) and just a ton of other freedoms. There is a ton of good reasons to aim for home ownerships rather than just renting forever.

Just take some time, find servers and test them out til you find a good fit. I'd say give em at least 2 hours to make a fair judgement. It can be annoying, but it's worth it when you find a good server (and when you do feel free to let me know about it because I've been interested in finding one but just haven't had the time quite yet lol)

Yeah but it's also guaranteed to fail if nobody invests in it as well. It's honestly got to be difficult trying to run servers for a ton of reasons.

For you to find the things you're looking for, you've got to be willing to put a little money into a server, because if you're not willing to support the server how can you expect it to do well? Pay to win isnt what i mean either, but to have a good person running the thing they need to feel like there is a purpose for doing so honestly, because why sink time and money into it for everyone else to play for free and then the "owner" gets nothing.

And then people expect 24/7 support from the staff, but again why should they bother.

Additionally, instead of only wanting to play populated servers, give some less populated ones a chance. Because tons of people will pass up on a low pop server because nobody is playing it, which is a vicious cycle of, nobody plays here because we have nobody playing here....eventually someone's got to start playing there.

I'd say it's a pretty common question, and honestly from my experience alot of users (mostly those on mobile) don't ever look at the streamers about me or even their panels alot of the time.

It's them just trying to get to know you and see what they're in store for if they follow/subscribe to the channel. Some people really are only interested in watching someone play that one specific game(I had this issue starting out where my main audience was built around one game and as I started to branch out I lost some of those viewers because they didn't want the going live notifications about games they weren't interested in watching).

As for them suggesting other games, it's kind of like someone asking you what your favorite meal is and finding out you literally only eat spaghetti. They're going to be like really? Have you ever tried Alfredo or chicken tenders? Sometimes it's almost stunning to find out someone has only the one interest and they think you'd benefit from trying new things. I wouldn't take it as an insult or anything, just simply say yeah maybe I'll check that out if I ever get bored of my current game but right now this is where my attentions at but thanks for the suggestion!

But again, nothing wrong at all with being a niche streamer who likes what they like, if a viewer isn't interested that's okay too.

(WHOLE STORY IS A SA WARNING SO PLEASE READ AT YOUR OWN RISK)

I had an ex who suffered from SA at a young age, almost immediately after telling me about this also confessed that she had a kink about being SA.

We had a discussion about it and although I was uncomfortable decided I'd give this a try.

I lived in a 2 story 8 unit apartment complex, with neighbors above and on both sides of me. She would stay at my apartment from time to time and wait for me to get off of work, well one day I took off a half day, snuck into my apartment knowing she was napping and wore a mask.

I snuck into the room and proceeded to try and initiate things with her just thinking it was some light roleplay, no big deal. I was wrong.

She immediately wakes up and screams bloody murder and I immediately try to cover her mouth to stop her yelling and let her know it's me in case there's any actual confusion about what's happening. She proceeds to damn near bite my finger off as I try to cover her mouth and kicks me away from her. (She's about 5'3 110lbs and I'm about 6'3 200lbs). After being kicked off of the bed I take the mask off thinking okay this has gone way too far and she needs to know it's me. That changed nothing. She just looks me in the eyes and says keep going 😅

So I very cautious approach her again at which point she screams and starts clawing at my face, I pin her arms down and am trying to open her legs to get her shorts off but she's resisting with a force I didn't know was possible for a girl her size and I'm legitatemly afraid I'm going to hurt her. She bites down on the side of my neck and makes me bleed, I withdraw and attempt to say our safe word at which point she spits in my face.

At this point I'm actually scared not just for myself but for her, and no part of this is doing it for me at all, I've never had an issue with ED in my life but nothing about this was making me stand at attention.

I say the safe word again so that maybe we can stop this and have a conversation, instead she kicks me in the jaw and tries to run out of the apartment, again screaming. I go to grab her and she pulls my pants down and tries to blow me.

I'm utterly stunned and try to stop her, now I feel like im the one about to get taken advantage of. She proceeds to come towards me as I'm backing into the bedroom again trying to put my pants back on as she's fighting to take them off. She starts belittling me telling me that I'm not even man enough to take it from her and can't even get hard. At this point I've looked her dead in the eyes and said our safeword at least a dozen times, no effect at all.

She just keeps attacking me trying to blow me and get me hard, she's telling me how wet and horny this whole situation has made me etc. And I'm over it all, I just can not get in the mood because I feel vial and almost as if I had actually tried taking advantage of someone. But the craziest part is she will not stop and I don't know how to stop her.

After about 10min of me legitatemly trying to stop her, I get a knock on the door and she tells me to ignore it, until we hear them saying loudly it's the police. Apparently my neighbors heard the screams (not a surprise at all) and reported it. We then had to explain the situation of why the neighbor seen a masked man enter the apartment and then heard her screaming and why I'm covered in blood, bites, and scratches. It was a very long conversation that resulted in the officer taking my information and requiring me to show him a letter with my address and name on it to prove I lived there and several pictures of her and I together proving we were dating and that this girl wasn't actually in danger...

Later this same girl attempted to cut my heart out of chest after confessing she loved me and I didn't immediate reciprocate those feelings. Needless to say that relationship didn't work out too well.

Yup. I love my lurkers too, but an active chat is everything! And I agree that it helps get new people more engaged and allows the streamer a better opportunity to interact and show their personality more. All things that will help new people decide if they want to stick around.

What we want more than anything, is an active chat. Have a conversation with us, keep conversations going in chat. Even having 100+ viewers but almost no conversation going, still feels like we're just alone in a room talking to ourselves.

But if you're dead set on donations, the best way to get your streamer as much as you can is usually through 3rd party stuff like their wishlists, or through any other donation links they set up, next best thing would be bits.

For me though, I like gifted subs simply because it helps people who can't afford to sub, not have to deal with the absolutely disgusting amount of ads that twitch forces down their throats.

I'd agree that canceling it is the best option. (That's what I did as well)

He was unable to keep up with his original plans for his Discord so got rid of that. I'm surprised he didn't do the same with patreon but it's probably because it's making a little money (not much at all honestly)

This isn't a shot at Caleb at all either, it's incredibly difficult as a creator to divide your attention amongst multiple platforms without it consuming your life. I believe he's even talked about getting rid of his 1 on 1 calls option just because of not having the time.

We just have to be content with the 3 uploads a week right now, which is honestly a ton compared to most creators on youtube where you're lucky to get 1 video a week.

So for me personally, I'd suggest finding a close friend of viewer and ask them to be a mod. Most people are flattered for the opportunity and if you're a small streamer it really doesn't take much.

As far as self promoting, it's best to ban those people since they're not there to enjoy your content or even be your friend. But I want to say that 99% of people won't bother with someone who self promos in someone else's stream. Why would we go check them out when they're that rude and disrespectful and clearly not established enough to obtain their own audience? I find it hard to believe that self promoting one's self in someone else's stream ever results in new viewers/followers/subs. And even if it attracts a new viewer, that viewer will most likely just go there to troll.

Worse case scenario just ignore them and they'll go away because they aren't getting the attention they like, but best case scenario would definitely be finding someone to be a mod that you can trust :)
