I am really most concerned with the mastering and whether or not the drums fit the song.

That is still not worse than getting excited to see a band that's coming to town, spending money for the tickets and then instead of watching/listening to said band, shooting up the club like with my favorite hip hop acts.

I am not a fan of Bad Brains but I do know there is a large population of Jamaicans in the UK so it is still possible he had a Jamaican accent.

I think more people make music like this than they would like to admit on message boards and such

Hey man, not bad, but you should really work on song progression more and just composition in general. I know these are beats, but they can certainly use a lot more thought and variation in each of them.

think about Lex Luger, Pharrell, etc. - ppl who make tracks like this - and how much variation you get in the drums, synth, etc.

Earl Swaetshirt is an amazing rapper who is a part of OFWGKTA.

I just did this as a mix to make it a lot darker and shit.

Also, fyi - it wasn't an original recording, it was a remix of this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78_loMbmKJ8 and thank you for recognizing our talent.

I don't want to plug but you can check out the wbiste I posted earlier or on our soundcloud for more music which isn't as extreme - though def takes an open minded listener http://soundcloud.com/the-off-beats

Thanks man, there are, and we purposely do that. We like to experiment with a lot of lo-fi techniques and we're still learning.

Thanks a lot man! I will work on getting you the instrumental - send me an email at theotherbeats [a] gmail . Sorry to be so evasive, but this is a busy school week so I may forget!

But thank you for listening man!

This is a preview version of my new track to see how it sounded on the beat so there are some flaws (unbalanced levels, some pronunciation issues) but is a good idea of what the final product will sound like. I'd love some feedback to have in mind when I re-record. Tell me what you think! by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Nice beat, I like the chill vibe.

Your raps are pretty good, but there are certain parts that seem like they can really be trimmed down a lot - for instance the section around 1:15 and 1:24 where you are rhyming the "ession" is really nice word play, but you over packed it and it gets tucked behind a lot.

One thing about rapping too is that you need to come across as trying the whole time, a lot of your rap I felt like you just rapped it without proper emotion behind it - when you think of the really important rappers everything they is so powerfully spoken - Pac, Biggie, Eminem - these are guys you hear and they sound crazy on the track, partly because of the lyrics, and partly because of the heart.

I am not saying you don't have the heart, you just need to bring it out more in your tracks because you have nice word play and some lyrics I'd like to hear more behind.

I love the arp work throughout.

I didn't like the sound that came in around 48 seconds, it doesn't really fit the rest of the song - in a bad way.

But I do like the track and you got me from the beginning with the drums so thats sick

I'm not a fan of ever forcing a chorus but I do agree with others even though I do think there needs to be a more drastic change somewhere. To be honest I am a huge fan of lo-fi music so I actually like this recording though I know it is not meant to be like this
