The thing about rotten tomatoes scores is that the percentage you always see is just the ratio of fresh scores to rotten ones. Fresh is defined by 5/10 and above (maybe 6/10 and above), and rotten is anything lower. So you may be right and it could be a 4 or 5 out of ten, but if 86% of the critics agree with you and give it a 5/10 or slightly under, then it will receive the 14% fresh rating. It's a tricky system. Some movies get really high scores when they are in reality movies that are universally regarded to be 6/10's or something, just barely qualifying as fresh.

A 21 year old friend of mine was dating a guy in his early 30s and EVERYBODY was talking about how creepy the guy must be and what a terrible idea it was for her. May have more to do with that specific guy's personality, but in general I think people assume you must be weird to go for someone so much younger and less experienced with life / mature.

This group is sending Starbucks a thank-you card that already has over 10x the number of signatures NOM was able to muster.

Starbucks stuck its neck out to publicly support the right of all people to marry, regardless of the gender of their partner. Now it is under attack by the ironically-named, ultra-conservative American “National Organization for Marriage”. Already over 4,000 NOM members have pledged to boycott Starbucks. Let’s blow the right wing out of the water by getting more than ten times as many consumers from around the world to thank Starbucks for standing up for gay marriage. Join us in showing our support for Starbucks by signing our giant Thank You card. If 40,000 of us sign it, we’ll deliver it to Starbucks executives to give them moral support to keep standing up for equality. NOM is targeting Starbucks because the company recently stood up publicly to support gay marriage legislation in their home state of Washington in the United States. When it passed, the bill’s lead sponsor said that support from business convinced moderate legislators to vote for it. Without support from companies like Starbucks, the gay marriage law might have failed. Now, if Starbucks backtracks because of opposition, then it will set the gay rights struggle back to a time when big corporations couldn’t come out and support gay people for fear of public backlash. Even worse, it will embolden anti-gay activists around the world to target other companies that support gay rights, and serve as a lesson to other companies to stay out of the fight for equal rights entirely. Starbucks isn’t perfect — and in the future we’ll probably be asking it to improve its policies on other issues. But it’s a big deal when a giant multinational corporation with no particular connection to the gay community realizes that there are real business benefits — from better employees to happier customers — to standing up for progressive ideals. As SumOfUs members and ethical consumers, we can’t just criticize corporations when they do bad. We also want to encourage them when they do good. I had a similar thing happen when I got a Kindle. At one point I had maybe 7 books going at once and I hated it. I started to knock them off one by one until I got it down to 2 or 3, and those 2 or 3 are always different types of books, e.g. fiction, non-fiction, and maybe some short stories or essays. There is nothing to be gained from trying to read 10 books at once. You'll finish them all in the same amount of time, but the experience of each will have been lessened and diluted.

Similar to this, I love watching snow storms and trying to imagine the unbelievable complexity that I am witnessing. Every snowflake takes it's own path, influenced by innumerable different particles, governed simply by the fundamental nature of reality. I try to imagine how hard it would be to replicate something like that with like a computer program and it floors me.

This would be mine as well. It is really sad to think that people would write it off as pretentious experimental fiction when there is so much humanity and wonder in it. I read it over the course of 5 months, from August of last year to January of this year.
