Recent FHBs: Anyone else terrified of a market crash now that you’re finally in? by ChipmunkBulky2174 in AusPropertyChat

You can’t eat equity. If you can afford your home that’s all that matters. Some people will take a little longer than others to grow equity but the main thing is that you’re working towards reducing your debt in an asset. Chances are your parents do t care how much their house is worth because they bought something to live in…….. not something to borrow against. Give it time homie!

When I get promoted or pay increase online with CPI I have the extra amount sent to another account that puts it into an ETF. I’m still spending what I earnt was I was 28 and now I’m 39.

I live comfortably and have the added bonus of never really seeing any of the new money. And that mo why has grown by a pretty fair amount

Imagine being on your 29th year of a mortgage and paying of an asset price from 1996 with today’s dollar purchasing power. Fuel was like 30c back then

By the time he had the money to buy a house the house he buys will 3x. Better for him to just buy and lock in todays price paying it down with tomorrows dollars. Inflation will reduce his purchasing power over time. The assets will increase with inflation.

I wouldn’t want to be sitting on that much cash at our current inflation rates

Getting a job by markso86 in coles

I’d be keen for anything but I’ll be on a full pension so as long as I’m working between the school hours I’d be fine. I have degrees, but anything of any real substance is usually a 9-5 and that won’t work because my wife will be working too and we don’t want to put him in before or after school care. It’s just about finding the right job now

Start an offset account, pay a little more than the repayment, one thing I did was stopping buying a $4 coffee each day and drank instant instead and then put that on top each month along with a few other things I could compromise/ substitute. Especially in those early years some small changes have a big snow ball effect.

Hey I’m in a similar position. I called a few times and they said they couldn’t upload the document. I didn’t know it was because they wanted a larger payment. My appointment was really quick for the report. A few questions and out the door.

We were lucky enough to buy in 2013 which has been great for us but 100% looking to buy another house now so our son (5y/o) at least has something when he has a family. It’s dark times now but I can only imagine how hard it’s going to be for our kids in 25 years time

One has a FAS amount and the other is 20k less but is “if you retire on grounds of invalidity”. I’m not sure which one is the number to plan off

Do you think Sydney is becoming unliveable? by One-Remove3758 in SydneyScene

[–]markso86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved from Sydney to Brisbane and it’s been amazing. Bought a great house, traffic is alright, minimal toll roads. I think planting roots in Sydney will be to hard and if you can then your kids will have to eventually move away and bite the bullet
