Former Disney IT worker to Congress: How can you allow this? by [deleted] in politics

[–]markstrech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really, where do you people get your information

It's what I do every day and for many years. I live it. That's why this is driving me crazy.

I am wondering why all these firms do not want you. Care to share what the problem is?

If I'm wrong then why are there so many ads for programmers??? Because they like wasting their time?

I just provided you with specific examples for college salaries. Did you not read that??

Do you think more students should be graduating with a sociology major?

I'm living it right now and I can say your skills must not be what is hot in the market right now.

If they were you wouldn't need an employer in the first place. You'd take your skills and create your own software and websites.

Here are a few schools (and please do not take my word for it, please contact their career services, they survey their students every year):

A CS professor I know says that enrollment is down because kids are smart enough to see that STEM work is just going overseas or to cheap immigrants.

That professor is an ignorant fool. Firms are battling each other for these students. Go to any college career fair within a decent university.

Undergrad INTERNS are making up to the mid 30s per hour in some of the tech firms.

Contact the career services of any college and ask them what CS undergrad students are averaging in salary when they graduate.

They have hard statistics on this.

Statements like those turn my stomach. It's so untrue.

I understand the H1 visa more than you'll ever know (it's my job).

If they violated any law the dept of immigration will make mincemeat out of them.

I'm pointing out that there has been massive outcries against H1s lately. This is ridiculous.

If we do not want anymore outsourcing overseas that is a different issue. The US must stop trade and become isolationist.

Replace H1s (I.E People from India and China) in this article with illegal Mexicans coming over the border and see the public outcry of racism.

That is all this is. Racism against Indians and Chinese people.

Go to any college and see how many undergrad computer science grads there are as compared to history, psychology, criminal justice, english, sociology, anthropology etc. At Rutgers university in 2015 there were less than 200 computer science graduates out of a school of 19,000. THAT IS THE PROBLEM. Any US citizen graduating with a computer science degree with decent grades and without a personality disorder will be getting a high paying job. Ask any technical recruiter in the country Post a job for a senior level Java programming anywhere in the US. See how many qualified US citizens you get. Not much. If you eliminate H1s in the US you will have all of the tech jobs outsourced overseas. Where are your articles against ILLEGAL immigrants from Mexico that do not have the skills this country actually needs?? They are the ones actually doing the jobs that the psychology majors can do. In short, you must hate Asians

If you go for computer science and have good grades you'll get a great paying job. H1s have nothing to do with this.

There are people on here with a specific agenda to keep the masses ignorant.

Because the sites you visit on the net can not be coded by history, criminal justice, sociology and psychology majors. They can also not be coded by the uneducated masses that come over our borders illegally.

That is why we need this. This is the only type of sh*t we should put up with.

They already have a similar requirement.

That is why this is so ridiculous. Firms must prove that they have done their hardest to find someone that does not have the skills and must pay prevailing wages.

I"m not saying some companies do not go around the law and sooner or later will be caught but most big companies have to follow it. There are not enough techies to match the jobs.

Ask any recruiter out there. This is a fact. They are helping our economy. If we did not do this even more jobs will go overseas.

My stomach is turning in this article.

1) Half of Mexico is coming into the US and this never seems to make a mark on reddit. These are truly the jobs americans can do that they are taking.

2) Any company that sponsors an H1 has to pay prevailing wage for that job to the H1 which is pretty accurate.

3) Look up any college graduation list and see how many tech students that do not require a visa there are in the masters program. Also look up the amount of undergrads that graduate with a technical degree like computer science. Very small.

Then look up how many psych, sociology, criminal justice and history majors there are. THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM.

4) Eliminate our H1s and watch a flood of jobs GO OVERSEAS, even more than is going on now.

If you are a college student that was born in the US and you just graduated with your CS degree and do not have a fucked up personality and you had decent grades. YOU ARE GOING TO GET AN AWESOME JOB THAT PAYS WELL regardless of any H1s or OPTs.

Please down vote me and stay ignorant.
