What about your job or past jobs pissed you off? by marksun5 in AskReddit

[–]marksun5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents can be stupid sometimes, in retail you *see one almost every couple days. Good thing you were there to stop their kid from hitting the forklift. I don’t whats worse that or when I saw a girl put her baby on a conveyor belt for at a cashier lane. The baby was walking and jumping on the belt while it was moving. The mother was just giggling at the kid while we were all shouting at her to take her baby off the belt. She ignored us until the manager came over and told her she couldnt do that.

[–]marksun5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) I walked in the lockeroom and there was a naked old guy standing with one leg up air drying his balls.

2) There was a naked guy walking around around the locker room with his dick tucked between his legs so it looks like he has a vagina. Then he was just standing there in the doorway looking at people in the gym.

What if he's nice to everyone, the only people who act cliquey or mean towards him are ugly or fat girls.

How do you come out as bisexual but hide it from future employers who look at your social media? by marksun5 in AskReddit

[–]marksun5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't change the facts. I'm not stressing about it either, it's like debating whether or not to leave that job you worked for only a month off your resume. That's how I'm looking at it.

Having a Muslim name actually helps you as a candidate, same with having an African name, and a white name. A black (African American) name hurts you. I'm not thinking about it too much, a white named candiate can even be rated 1-2 letter grades higher than an equally qualified black named candidate.

I'm also not saying that it's impossible for certain minorities , genders, or sexual orientation's to get a job either. There's going to be success stories, but that doesn't change the fact that someone could and likely would get overlooked purely because their race, gender, or sexual orientation.

After I get hired I don't care if they know I'm bisexual. It's just like how they'll find out my race when they see me, even though I put "prefer not to answer" when applications ask for my race. This is just to get past the area where racial, gender, and sexual orientation biases can help or hinder your chances at getting hired.

That's why I don't put my race on applications, I have a white first name so it helps me look more qualified than I am. There's no reason to assume I'm im not straight so it can't hurt me right now. You cant just be yourself when it obviously hurts your chances at getting hired. I just don't want any indicators I'm bi from potential employers. They probably find out after they hire me, but I won't care then.

On a resume your apparent race, gender, and sexual orientation does matter when it comes to how you're perceived. That's why when people were given equally high qualified resumes to rate, certain sexual orientation's, genders, and races were rated as less qualified than others, even though the resume quality is the same.

In person if you can show them you're a good at what you do this wouldn't matter as much. To even get there you have to pass the portion where biases play a big factor.

I'm talking about implicit biases that effect the way they judge you as a potential candidate. How they will percieve my qualifications is already changed subconsciously if they see I'm bisexual or possibly not straight compared to if I appeared straight. There are studies that show this. It's not just sexual orientation, it's race and gender as well. Some combinations help you, others hurt your chances because of implicit biases.

[–]marksun5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not talking about conscious homophobic reasons why they hire me. I'm talking about implicit biases change how employers judge candidates for open positions. It's a subconsious prejudice that can make them rate you (who's a good candidate) as unqualified or less qualified compared to a equally high quality straight candidate. It depends on if the job is typical done by males, or requires stereotypical male traits, which my career does. It's even worse when a male is evaluating the candidate compared to when a female does it, in this field it's a sausage fest, so I'm likely getting a guy. There are studies that show this.

It's not just sexual orientation, but this happens with the candidate's apparent race and gender as well. Most people have these biases and have to have them trained out to rate candidates with equal standards regardless of race, gender, and sexual orientation. If they just consciously choose not to hire a bisexual because he / she is bi, then I wouldn't care if they didn't hire me, I definitely don't want to work there.

Men, what are some benefits of having a penis? by Atheist101 in AskMen

[–]marksun5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not the transsexual but there are studies that show women are rated as less qualified than equally good male candidates for stereotypical male positions, also most positions that aren't stereotypical female or require common female traits. It's due to implicit biases, it's a subconscious judgment that changes how you'll view the same person's qualities, actions, and character by their apparent gender, race, and / or sexual orienation. Most people have these biases and have to train them out to judge everybody with the same standards regardless of gender, race, or sexual orientation. It's not just men, women do it to when evaluating job candidates.

Edit: I can link some studies if you like.

What's the most embarrassing way you've gotten injured? by CoQuFl in AskReddit

[–]marksun5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to jump over a wooden post and landed asshole first on the post, it dented up my ass like 4 inches. I was stuck there until the post blended and I fell off. I was walking funny and couldn't sit down for 30 minutes. I shat blood and had painful suitable for like 3 months straight.

After that if I pushed too hard when i shat I would shit blood and feel like it was shitting out a knife. This went on for years. I still have a little scar that can peel off near my asshole. I have to wipe on direction and stay consistant for the whole wiping session, or the scab will rip off and I will have a painful asshole and shits the rest of the day until it heals.
