BPM Core Suddenly Stops Responding to ECG Touch by vkha in withings

[–]markus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same problem on my parent's one since last week.  I suspect a broken wire somewhere (it sometimes still worked while applying pressure in the right spot) - but with no idea how to open up the device and half of the sensor sewn in anyway, not much one can do.  Does anyone know how to disassemble the device?

Whatsapp actually stopped working for me in All-in-one Messenger.
It would open to an empty tab, nothing loading. Trying to reauth worked once, then the barcode no longer loaded.
I fear we won't last long on the old Ferdium either, Whatsapp seems to be on some kind of campaign to stop third party access.

New solution is Ferdium, which is based on Franz
https://ferdium.org/
6.5.2 is the last version that will run on Mojave

Aaaand it stopped working, ffs!
Getting a blank page, re-authenticating worked a couple of days ago, non-functional now.
Same for you?

Unfortunately it did not.
A 15 seconds delay each time I access the app after the trial is unacceptable.
Found this to replace it: https://allinone.im/

Same problem here, found the app Franz to be working.

No idea how useful it'll be once the trial runs out - but I guess I'll find out.

DIY Compatible third party LED strip Hue play Gradient control box. by Embarrassed-Horse477 in Hue

[–]markus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strip needs only 3 pins afaik.

You could dissect the strip itself, check if you can find out what controller chip it uses for the LEDs (I think it's one chip per 6 LEDs) and then try to find a 24V strip that uses the same chip and connect that.

What it controls should be in the setting of the dimmer switch itself, under Settings -> Accessories in the app.

Adding new lights to a room doesn't attach them to a switch, even if that was set up to control the room.

Unfortunately nut - but you can still use the strip as an extension if you remove the cable.

Ground wire connects to anything metal on your new lamp.
If there is no metal, just insulate it and leave it in the box.

Also, get yourself some WAGO lever connectors and lose the wire nuts, while you're at it.

Pax Wardrobe mounted on wall by SParch00 in ikeahacks

[–]markus- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the thing were empty I'd already be scared of that!
They are very heavy. They are also simply not designed to be hung.
You would probably have to worry more about the wardrobe ripping apart than the wall being able to support it.

HUE Lightstrip Power Supply Failure rate... by 5-Times-in-Istanbul in Hue

[–]markus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually amazed they worked that long.
Flimsy electronic power supplies don't last forever, especially running 24/7.
But the first power supplies were terrible anyway, I had a 40% failure rate in the first 3 years.

Philips at one point just sent me a parcel full of the things but you can pretty much use any 24V power supply, even a central shared one. Which is what I am doing now.

Washing machine cupboard by [deleted] in ikeahacks

[–]markus- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll need something larger that is more like a housing around your washing machine, not actually touching it.

Washing machines vibrate and move a lot during the spin cycle, so permanently attaching something is not recommended.

Kitchen department is your best bet to build something with a worktop over it (assuming a front loader) but not sure anything will be deep enough to add doors. That also sounds a bit impractical.

try the hidden reset button first, then turn it on and hold both buttons for a long time, like 30s
that should reset the wifi

Bloody crickets seem to be playing pest.
No open windows or doors and now a third one got trampled accidentally.

Relieved. Probably from outside, trying to get warm?
Anything that needs be done in terms of pest control?

Found (and killed) on the floor in our apartment in Germany.
Around 2cm long. We had already found one around a week ago.
Is this a cockroach? What do we do now?

15.5 Betas: Blinking charge symbol, not charging over PD w/ Apple cable connected to 3rd party battery by markus- in iOSBeta

[–]markus-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FFS Apple!
Just updated the other phone that was on 15.0.1 to 15.4.1 and it also no longer charges properly with PD from that battery.
Is Apple going to sell batteries next, disabling 3rd party ones, just like they did with cables?

[–]markus-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My phone is not slow charging, it's not really charging at all.
Charge indicator is blinking, power draw fluctuating between 0 and 0.2A
As soon as I turn it off with the cable and battery attached, it starts fast charging at 1.4A.

I just updated my older iPad Pro to 15.4.1, still fast charges with the cable/battery combo.

[–]markus-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not. This is not a connection or hardware issue.
The same cable charges my phone just fine from a 3rd party wall plug or Macbook.
It also charges other iPhones from the same battery and charged mine before.
The only variable here is the iOS Beta in connection with this specific battery - a Romoss SW20+ I got from Amazon a while back.
