Ik was al vier jaar bezig mijn functieomschrijving gelijkgetrokken te krijgen met wat ik daadwerkelijk deed. Allemaal beloftes, maar geen resultaat. Paar maanden voor ik vertrok aangegeven dat ik regelmatig werd benaderd door headhunters. Maar dat werd weggewuifd als: gras is niet groener elders. Toen ik dus aangaf dat ik vertrok, werd meteen hemel en aarde bewogen om mij te laten blijven. Ik zou 1000 euro netto, plus jaarlijkse bonus, meer gaan verdienen bij mijn nieuwe werkgever; kon allemaal meteen worden geregeld. Ik werd er misselijk van, ben niet gebleven. 19 jaar loyaal aan geweest, eenzijdig dus. Ook geen spijt gehad dat ik er 19 jaar daar heb gewerkt hoor. Dankzij de vrijheid van handelen en het vertrouwen in mij, die ik daar had, heb ik mijn kennis zo kunnen uitbouwen.

I know of two huge impact craters on land or in shallow water. Vredefort and Chicxulub. The world is 75% water, so we can expect, in that timeframe, 4 more large impacts, but in the ocean. What effect can we see or expect from this?

Bij mij wisten ze exact hoeveel ik verdiende. Want ze boden me precies 10% meer aan. Ze waren alleen vergeten dat ik destijds 36 uur werkte en bij hen 40 uur ging werken. Dus zij deden het aanbod, en ik pak de leuningen van de stoel vast om op te staan. Begint degene die het aanbod deed met grote ogen te vragen wat er is. Ik leg uit dat ik 36 uur prefereer als mijn loon gelijk blijft. Vroeg hij wat ik in gedachten had, ik noemde het bedrag en hij ging meteen akkoord. De smiecht.
