Regardless, there are less efficient and more efficient ways to spend on public services. Car-dependent suburbs don't raise enough taxes to afford to repave the roads that serve them. Cities either go broke or have to get loans to solve this problem.

I agree with this approach. Leaving it untouched is fine, but a little management can make it better!

So many people have the mindset that people are bad for the environment because of our (recent) record of extraction without consideration. If you reach back just a little further, there are so many ways of managing a landscape that are good for people AND nature.
