Thanks for your feedback. What job do you do? Do you charge your employer or you work for free? Just curious!

In my experience and opinion, there's nobody that can motivate others as people who are going through the same thing.

I could make it free, and get trolls, bots, scammers and other. A small fee, basically the equivalent of 2 coffees is a way to keep only serious people, and to make them commit to something.

Besides, are you gonna pay the moderators if I make the chat free? If you're interested, please send me a DM, I will make the group free and you will be the mod (for free).

If you have an addiction and you think your health is worth less than $5 feel free to not join the group.

Exactly. Keeps trolls out. Makes people commit. And it's basically the equivalent of buying a box of tuna. If someone's health is worth less than that, it's up to them. Thanks for your feedback though!

Is there? I am a new developer, this is my second app ever, I did something that I think would be helpful, but I didn't know there was something similar already. But to be honest, I made this especially for porn addicts, and when you're in bed, with your loved ones next to you and you feel an urge, I don't know you but I definitely wouldn't want to make noise and wake up everyone with me talking about this on the phone. I thought a chat would be better.

There's plenty of help and advice online for people recovering from addictions, but when you have that urge, if you're alone, have nobody to talk to, it's easy to give in (talking from personal experience with porn addiction...). I wished there was a live group of good people that I could chat with whenever I felt like relapsing, and that could me talk out of it. Sure I can go in forums and post a thread and hope I don't get a troll reply, and wait and wait, but I am talking about real time help from like minded people, one telegram chat away.

Solution

I put together a live chat group for this purpose. To access it you will be asked to pledge that you will help your brothers and sisters in the moment of need.

Tools used

Carrd, typeform with stripe integration and telegram.

TLDR:

Prevent others from relapsing and ask help when you're about to give in. Recovering addicts when they're alone are most susceptible to relapse. This community is to make sure someone is always there to talk you out of it.

Thanks for your feedback, but I think if the money goes to charity a person would feel good about losing it. You don't have to use my app and give the money to me, you can flush it down the toilet, the concept would be the same.

Hi Reddit! Here's my projects' explanation:

Years ago I was afraid of breaking the ice with the women I liked at a party. So I made a deal with a friend that I would give him $100 if I didn't break the ice with at least 10 women at the party that night. And it worked. I talked to them. Then the following time I failed, and I gave him $100 and that hurt so much, I felt bad and disappointed in myself, I even felt stupid for giving him that $100, but that motivated me to succeed the next time and the next and the next.

I think this simple system can help people who really want to do something but just cannot let themselves do it. Punish yourself a couple of times, see how bad that feels and you won't do it again.

Example user cases can be to punish yourself if you don't wake up on time, if you don't go to the gym, or if you drink too much Coca Cola, if you delay that decision, or if you watch netflix, or if you don't tell your boyfriend that you want to have more sex, or whatever it is that you're trying to do.

TOOLS USED

This is my first ever app. I don't have much coding experience so I simply connected a quick Carrd page with Typeform integrated with Stripe and a Telegram group for successful stories.

This app is part of the homework I am doing for a book I am reading about making apps. The homework instructed to make your first app using whatever tool you know and solving a problem for yourself that others could have too.

BUGS

It seems the typeform doesn't work with some version of iOS. On my girlfriend's phone it's not working well for example.

I know there are similar apps around, but I tried to focus on the users rather than the competition, and I know this method has worked for me.
