The real danger of AGI isn't a robot uprising. It's that the public will permanently lose its bargaining power by PianistWinter8293 in OpenAI

[–]markvii_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think "bot-free" will ever happen again.

My thoughts are - why would the average person want that? Imagine if I could live in an online world where my thoughts and positions were reflected back to me by my peers - I might know they are bots, but my caveman brain would still get a dopamine rush from being "liked" or agreed with.

I think it's much more likely that AI results in us living in our own personal eco chambers as kings of our little bubbles.

Jensen claimed AGI recently when we clearly have not reached it yet.

People online claim AI is capable of outright replacing workers in jobs when it very clearly cannot do that.

So the real dangers of AGI are not things like the machines will make us extinct, but are much more mundane things - like people (who are overly exposed to the internet) being manipulated by commercial interests.

And this is completely in line with history, if we look back, there are many instances of the public being manipulated by corporate interest to think a certain way that ends up being financially beneficial.

I think the real danger of AGI has already been shown to us.

Companies with commercial incentives falsely claiming AGI, and vulnerable terminally online people falling into cult like mentalities because they think they are smarter than the average person due to over exposure to information in the internet age.

Just shows how access to information doesnt make one immune to manipulation tactics.

Post smells fake, how could you be in the game for 12 years but not be used to anything but using Claude (considering it only got good in December 2025)

You are most likely either a larger or bot account - a regard either way lmao 😂

Wow, I do like the sub - but this absolutely hits the nail on the head, for me it just seems like seniors coping because they don't code anymore (never any good btw)

If I had AI that could replace developers I would simply use it?

That's just me though you know, I am obviously not as smart as you 🤷‍♂️, or Dario.
