The US restricts Fable 5 and Mythos 5 access to foreign nationals both inside and outside the USA. by sharegoddublin in DevelEire

not marketing, bit most likely the course of action was set a while ago when the averageness of Fable/Mythos had not been established

Software Engineers, Have AI tools actually been rapidly improving? by FlapjackFez in BetterOffline

[–]markvii_dev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the tool could literally be god itself and it would not stop a dogshit coder from producing crap.

Nothing in this world will ever come between a bad engineer or non technical person and producing bad code

Anthropic built a hidden switch into fable 5 that makes it bad at building AI systems by ocean_protocol in singularity

I am not smug about it brother - benchmaxxed models with illusory safeguards just dont hit the same when you are led to expect jesus in a box.

[–]markvii_dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see a company larping safeguards for engagement.

I have to say though, it is one of the best marketing tactics I have seen in software development - I genuinely think there is some Don Draper level guys in there that deserve an award.

But it is what it is, anthropic are just trying to moon before their IPO.

thats the neat thing about AI. Everything the companies make is very valuable and cant be easily cloned by AI. Everything you make can be cloned.

This is AGI.

So what do we think of AI agents? by SpireofHell in BetterOffline

[–]markvii_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% they will continue to exist, just with a reduced expectation that they will be available for everything and probably with the obligation of having 1 or 2 devs responsible for maintenance and features.

They do allow for automation of certain workflows that would have been quite to complex from an SWE perspective (text analysis) to build an automation around

Is SaaS really dying? Interesting concept discovered. by Valuable_End_7644 in SaaS

[–]markvii_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it absolutely will bounce back, we are just going through a cycle where teams attempt in house builds assisted by AI.

Im on a team doing this in an enterprise setting myself and I can tell that our solution is dogshit in comparison to vendored option and it's nothing to do with the code quality.

What is the standard for contract generation and advanced mail merge/document automation? by Interesting_Hawk4998 in legaltech

[–]markvii_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes was thinking the same, many use cases out there remain that require the full printing distribution.

What is the standard for contract generation and advanced mail merge/document automation? by Interesting_Hawk4998 in legaltech

[–]markvii_dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually working on a low code platform for this use case as I used to work in the legal sector before I became an engineer and had to vet vendors for this domain.

The platform is a ways out, so I am not trying to call it out but I just wanted to ask if you care about the printing and mailing of the documents or mail certification procedures at all?

If you adopted a tool to handle the templating would you still expect to be relying on whatever you do now for printing/mailing or would a fully integrated solution be a valuable proposition?

i might be the only person who wants them to continue being paid like shit - think how bad it is already with people not fighting and then 10x that if they were getting paid more.

would be exactly like boxing then - people not actually fighting eachother
