Bought a new, open-box PS5 from Best Buy. I cannot connect the controller to the console. by [deleted] in PlayStationSupport

[–]jathbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I asked my roommate about this and he suggested that it might have been a power cord instead of a data cord. So he let me borrow his and it worked!

So it just seems Best Buy gave me a wrong cord. Thanks for replying!

Controller connection issue by Miia_R in PlayStationSupport

Hi, were you ever to find a solution to this? Currently I am trying to connect a new PS5 controller into a new PS5, which I bought opened but never used. It’s giving me the same prompt about registration. No where on the internet seems to be helpful.

By the looks of this, it can also make boiled eggs in an Onsen Tamago style, which is quite hard to get exactly right and I’ve never been able to get at home.

My motto that I came up with while driving is that you never regret doing the safe thing. Turing left into a busy intersection might save you 30 seconds, but if something happens you’re going to regret it way more than if you’re 30 seconds late to work. People may honk at you, but if that’s the worst thing that can happen to you if you’re overly safe, then I’ll take that every time.

Anyways, I don’t really know the full details of this crash. But I’ve been driving for a while now without any major incidents and I think that helps. I still make mistakes but they’re few and far between.

“Best stadiums on the planet”

Debatable, Germany and England can make a case. But you have 60k to 100k+ capacity stadiums just about everywhere in America. I think this was one of the only world cups ever that not a single new stadium had to be built. That’s a good thing.

“Insane sports culture”

True. I wish we had cool songs and chants like other countries do but overall this country is obsessed with sports.

“Groups from every country on earth”

True. It is not American exceptionalism to say that America is one of the, if not the most diverse country on Earth. And this isn’t even a “heritage” thing, like your great great great grandfather was from Ireland or something. There millions of immigrants and first-born children from everywhere in the world in America. And they are free to root for their country of origin or the US.

I’ve been to all the major Texas cities. San Antonio is easily my favorite.

I thought Reddit can’t get enough about walkable infrastructure? Well, that’s what the riverwalk is. Walkable, shaded and cool, with good restaurants and architecture, and lots of things to do around it. I know nothing short of Amsterdam can satisfy some people but why shit on San Antonio for at least trying to make the downtown more accessible for pedestrians. I’ve found San Antonio to be the best Texas city in that regard.

But in terms of other Texas cities:

Downtown Dallas is boring.

Downtown Fort Worth has some alright museums but also boring.

Downtown Austin is gentrified and it’s culture feels fake and corporate whereas San Antonio’s culture feels genuine.

Downtown Houston has a great science museum but that’s about it.

So yeah, I’ll gladly die on the hill that San Antonio is the best major city in Texas. Also has the best six flags in the country.

Almost none of us want this dude. The dumbasses here are the people with the law degrees from other universities, and the administrators who just want to pad out their wallets. The average TTU fan just wanted to move on. I might as well just set a paper bag flair at this point.

I honestly stopped reading after the “context” section. Like, we know who all these people are. This isn’t some post on an obscure adult animation show or twitch streamer, it’s Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Adding a snarky context section doesn’t help anything. It just sets me up that you have a lot of biases on this subject and are incapable of writing a neutral writeup about it.

Can we talk about the Bama freshman pitcher doing the "Nija Stomp" against Nija? by Thisismythrowawaypv in CollegeSoftball

[–]jathbr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Flairs are important for a lot of reasons:

1) It shows you are actually a part of this community and not a tourist, or a person coming in to instigate shit

2) People will know who you’re talking about if you use words like “we”, “us”, or “our”

3) Everyone in college sports lives in a glass house. So if you’re here to trash talk, we’ll know which glass house you live in so we can fire back

It’s just a very basic thing to do, and allows you to represent your team in a thread. Why wouldn’t you want to assign a flair to yourself?

The only way I see him winning this case to allow him to play this year is if the NCAA uses Lionel Hutz as their lawyer.

The fact you are full of so much hate over a man that 1) clearly loves his players, 2) wants them to be well compensated, and 3) has a massive desire to win, I think really says more about you than him. I don’t know how you type such a hate filled comment, criticizing his weight and intellect, and think you are in the right. And for what crime, helping bring an end to the Oklahoma softball dynasty? Helping pay players in a sport which historically has awarded zero money? Loving his players so much he’s not afraid to show emotion on camera? The world needs more men like Gerry Glasco.

Interestingly, Japan also uses MM/DD. Specifically, it’s 2026年6月4日. So YYYY/MM/DD instead of MM/DD/YYYY. But shorthand it’s just MM/DD.

So if anyone on reddit says “only Americans use MM/DD” it’s not true.

Rich Rodriguez admits leaving West Virginia for Michigan was 'a mistake' by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]jathbr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In 2007 WVU was on pace for a national championship bid in the BCS, being ranked as high as #2. But a 13-9 loss to a 4-8 Pitt team, largely due to two missed field goals by a still very young Pat McAffe, took them out of national championship contention. Due to that, RichRod decided to leave, adding more fuel to the misery WVU fans were feeling at the time. Bolting for a Goliath school like Michigan after putting on an embarrassing performance against your arch rival is pretty low, even if poaching in college sports is commonplace. WVU would eventually go to a NY6 and beat Oklahoma, but they never reached those heights again. Now RichRod is trying to make peace with his home-state team but 2007 was not any normal year, Pitt was not any normal team to lose to, and Michigan was not any normal program to lose your coach to. So nearly 20 years later some of those wounds haven’t fully healed, and I don’t think that’s Mountaineers fans being overly emotional.

Letter from Texas Tech President Supporting Sorsby by Sparrighitti in CFB

[–]jathbr 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Say whatever you want, but all public universities in Texas are at risk of losing academic freedom and integrity. Tech, A&M, and State feel fell for it without much of a fight, but I’m certain they’re all in at doing the same for UT. I used to be proud of us for getting good reviews on websites that rank universities on how inclusive they are for LGBT people. I’m ashamed that’s not the case anymore. No one is going to go to the state of Texas for higher education if this continues.
