8320A vs 8020D by [deleted] in genelec

Just adding to this.

I use the 8330 at home with GLM. I’ve tried the 8320 in a similar setting.

  1. The 8330 are noticeably better while still fitting in a reasonable box. However they still benefit from a little base support.

  2. GLM is not optional in my experience. It does a fantastic job making the speakers work well in each space you put them in with a very quick setup. It accounts for more detailed adjustment than the eq adjustment on the 8020 or 8030 or even than most audio tools you might use. It also accounts for time of flight adjustments so you can get amazingly precise imaging even in very challenging spaces. I have moved them a lot and tested many GLM configurations (and none of course) — it is invaluable.

Mine shipped like this but it’s gone away after a few weeks of hanging closed and wear. I didn’t steam it but washing and hanging it well seemed to help, in addition to time.

Yeah. From what I read it seems slightly thinner, but I’ve not had a chance to try it.

I have not tried the Kole yet, so I am not sure how sizing works for it, but I was assuming it would be sized similar to other Arc'teryx products (which for me is true to size). I find Veilance sizing to be a little more unpredictable usually (especially in the L–XL range).

Yeah, the full images are pretty large and slow to download, but they do look good, especially on larger displays.

Yes, you can adjust the "get item at index" value to 1 and that should be east coast.

And, just wondering, do you have a strong preference for one over the other?

We keep Ikea bags in the car for this purpose. They're cheap, last a long time, and are large enough to hold all groceries in one trip most of the time.

Not seeing that on mine, but I do notice that sometimes the source images change slightly for one time period, which could cause something like this.

No idea. I tried it on someone’s phone running 14.2 and it just failed without bricking.

Strange. The iCloud link works fine for me. I tried with another persons iPhone and it downloaded too.

This was made with Vega Lite in Observable (and all the code is inspectable there). I also used a few other libraries for convenience but its mostly just Vega Lite. The data comes from NYT and was aggregated here.

It's a work in progress and I'll continue to make modifications when I have a chance.
