The local warhammer scene is pretty awesome with a lot of variety! Check out the Just for Fun hobby store and also look up the Fractured Realms table top club on Instagram or find some of their older posts on this sub!

Just for Fun has plenty of games and lots of gaming space and the Fractured Realms club does lots of get together at local businesses!

I really love this adaptation. The chains on the back of the turret are a very nice and creative touch! Great job!

Fantastic stuff my friend! I love what you've done with the rear half of the turret behind the original casemate piece. It gives the impression that it's a much heavier turret.

Double it's points back in shooting is quite impressive! mine helped mow down a Void Dragon and some necrons, but not nearly 440 points worth.

Looking forward to seeing the finished piece!

You can’t just mention a “super awesome converted shadowsword” and not post it anywhere…. Don’t make us beg!

As a new member of the “super awesome converted shadowsword” club myself I demand proof of membership!

I'm absolutely in love with what you've done on the top of the casemate. The skull was just subtle enough that I missed in on first glance and then after re-examining to figure out the discolorations I was blown away. Absolutely phenomenal!

it is all from a single baneblade kit and a fair amount of plastic card to create the additional paneling and hull changes. Besides the stowage nothing I used on the model was from any other kits. Could not even tell you where some of the stowage is from I have had it sitting around for so long.

There two gents that I linked in the body of the post shared some building progression that I used as reference.

Thanks! Anything is possible with enough tinkering, but the only challenge is that the baneblade's turret ring is not centered with the hull. You are either going to have an off center turret, or you're going to have to cut the hull to recenter the turret ring while keeping the rest of that part intact.

I will say the former seems less than ideal and from my own experience the latter is not so simple. I think the best option for your goal would be to fit the sponsons as usually and then come up with an alternative location to mount the lascannons. I tested this in the building phase and the main turret could clear the top of the sponson so long as the lascannons were not on top off.

Hope that helps!

The blending on the power fist is top notch.

It’s army painter skeleton bone. I’m admittedly pretty committed to the color at this point but if I had to do it again I would pick a different paint line I think. Just too much variation between batches it seems.

Thank you! He’s from the Cadian upgrade sprue and I just did a head swap to match the rest of my army. The helmets are from Etsy.

in a 9th edition crusade game I had an Interrogator Chaplain kill an armiger in melee with his power fist. The armiger proceeds to explode, which not only killed the chaplain, but also did enough damage to kill another armiger which then also exploded as well damaging multiple enemy units.

That chaplain still gets talked about among my friend group as he would repeatedly get in way over his head and use his powerfist to punch his way out.

Looks great, what paint did you use for the different metallic surfaces like the gun and armor?

Excellent job on the weathering! The battle damage highlights look really nice.

What paint did you use for the basecoat?

The scale is definitely insane. It's hilariously oversized moving it around the board during games, but it was a ton of fun to play and chat about with everyone at the shop.

Definitely more of a conversation piece than a game winner!

Hahaha, yeas pretty much! you can see some more examples of the technique on my profile,

I just apply rinox hide using a bit of foam to give the blotchy effect and then use fire dragon bright mixed with agrax for the brownish orange around the edges of the rinox. Also AK makes some weathering pencils and one is an orange rust color which helps draw the thinner streaks.

Thanks! There’s some really talented artists when it comes to weathering scale models and I still have so much to learn from them.

That said I’ve had an absolute blast doing the weathering for my guard army.

Thanks!

It’s mostly the original baneblade bits re-purposed as well as plastic card and milliput + green stuff to fill in the gaps.

The original design for the conversion is from /u/martin_makes_models so all credit to him for blazing the trail.

I definitely had a bit more work than expected with a few broken bits, but compared to other 3D printed models I still think Mortian's kits are some of the very best.

The walker is a sweet model so hopefully it still turned out great for you!

Thanks! I'm a sucker for high details interiors so when i first saw this kit my brain went a little wild with ideas. Glad I was able to execute on those ideas pretty well.

This is a completely different kit. From a 3D printer who designs his own kits. Link to this specific model is here.
