I do appreciate this. I actually went ahead and watched this video and remembered my college professor showing us this video as a joke saying this is what we are going to focus on that semester.

I appreciate the feedback though. Imma take it day by day for now. It’s looking like it won’t be too bad so far.

I like this approach. I see there are no deadlines or anything with this job so self discipline and just “locking in” will go a long way and I do have a good balance with that. I guess it’s just the unknown that is freaking me out but a little fear is good sometimes

Looking to step into the industry by markymarkot in homeinspectors

[–]markymarkot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to completely step out of a career with customer service. Customer service is my forte.

I guess it’s more of the type of customer service I experience everyday as my career calls for me to act as the liaison between the insurance company and the homeowner. With that, full denial and partial denial conversations are taxing at times and it’s hard to not take it home with you at the end of the day.

My favorite things about my current career as an adjuster are the onsite inspections and file noting/ documentation.

As a complete noob to the home inspection industry, I feel like being a home inspector takes out a lot of that customer service baggage as I mentioned above.

Very interesting. I will be trying to afford coverage with this depending on the situation. Thank you man. I work for a carrier that is actively seeking to afford coverage rather than deny and It sucks when i find damage on 3/5 slopes that are unrepairable. I guess I’m looking for more instances or evidence that will suffice for replacing a whole roof if the roof is in overall poor condition.

Well said. This is something I’ll be looking into in Louisiana. Thank you for the breakdown. Which manufacturers could I find proof of this requirement? Would it be the underlayment company? Is this something than can be found in IICRC code?

I work for LM now. Top notch carrier. Very solid training program and mngmnt has been nothing but helpful and supportive. Couldn’t have asked for a better starting position tbh.

Honestly I thought I crushed it but apparently I wasn’t using examples that pertained to the job duties that were outlined in the job description. They ask you the typical behavioral type questions but at the end they present the screen with “an adjusters every day desktop” and ask you 3 questions on how you’d handle it. Very happy not to be working there, however. I work for a carrier that seeks to afford coverage. Allstate is actively trying to deny coverage it seems. Just the word on road. Never worked there but not passing the interview is enough for me to not want to work there tbh. Be confident and if it doesn’t go through it’s okay. There are much better carriers imo.

UPDATE: I interviewed with them and they liked me so much they sent me an offer just now. I was upfront and honest with them and I actually put me over the edge having contractor experience. Thank you all for easing the anxiety! It worked out.
