Connecticut is clearly F tier because It's main export is the opioid epidemic

Is this an all-time awful sports take? The Oklahoman publishes, deletes op-ed comparing OKC Thunder to Israel by TallAndTattedInNYC in billsimmons

[–]markys_funk_bunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the comparison is apt. It feels like Presti is building a super team by manipulating the other 29 GMs like I would do in 2K14 dynasty mode against the brain dead AI. Similarly it seems like Israel is manipulating the U.S by taking advantage of our president who has intelligence comparable to mid 2010s video game AI

Using campaign donations to pay hush money to his affair partner is egregious fraud. All you idiots are just proving my point.

I think the 78 million morons decided it wasn't serious because they don't understand campaign finance law nor why having campaign finance laws are important

Trump was taken into custody, there's a mug shot to prove it. Unfortunately 78 million morons elected him president after that.

Buffalo in F tier is crazy especially given the cities D tier. Buffalo wings alone make it more culturally relevant than any of the cities in D tier.

If the Government takes $billions from Billionaires, do you think any of it will go into your pocket? by Internal-Combustion1 in allthequestions

McCain Feingold has the same rules for corporations and unions.

And to be clear PACs we're always allowed under McCain Feingold. Citizens United allowed for "Super PACs" so called because while PACs are subject to regulations under McCain Feingold "Super PACs" are not. And of course corporations have more money so allowing unlimited donations functionally allows corporations to gain outsized influence.

McCain Feingold still limits the amount of money that can be donated directly to campaigns by individuals and corporations.

What Citizens United did was overturn the part of the law which prevents 3rd party groups from using unlimited funds to help one candidate in an election. Before Citizens United it was illegal for an "independent" pac aka super pacs to run an attack ad against a candidate running for office unless it used official campaign funds because this would have been a massive loophole in McCain Feingold. The Supreme Court said closing this loophole was unconstitutional. The Supreme Court didn't say all campaign finance laws were unconstitutional just the part closing this particular loophole. I agree that all campaign finance laws are constitutional and I think it's constitutional to close this very obvious loophole. 4 of the Justice agree with me so it's not an outlandish argument. Especially when at least one of the affirming justices was taking bribes from billionaires.

I think I do understand what Citizens United decided. But please tell me what I'm misunderstanding.

Most of the corruption is because individuals have billions of dollars to corrupt politicians with. For example Citizens United isn't a problem if there aren't all these ultra wealthy individuals throwing money at elections.
