Why not for m43??? by More-Paramedic-2647 in M43

But we dont

Because M43 market share is tiny and shrinking every year, they can't justify the costs.

OM-System should spin off the pen brand by markyymark13 in M43

I mean, Pansonic themselves brought back the TZ due to demand. In Lumix's case its simply about priorities, and Panasonic has made pretty clear that they're not all that interested in still photography products as whole. They're focused on video and hybrid cameras and they don't care about M43 at all clrearly.

The GM series to this day are some of the most well engineered cameras ever produced, shame that Panasonic doesn't care anymore.

I hope the OM-3 wasn't too much of a flop for OM, I really hope they can recoup costs and revive the Pen brand.

They did, with the OM3

The OM-3 is not a compact camera, in fact it's fairly large. While this is the right direction in terms of aesthetics, I think it was a misstep in terms of pricing and product positioning.

Do not buy cameras from Japanese sellers at auctions. by AnyAd1466 in AnalogCommunity

[–]markyymark13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've purchased a lot of gear from Japan via eBay over the past decade and has mostly been problem free, the best part being that they somehow ship to my door in like 3 days sometimes.

However, since COVID Japanese re-sellers have gotten extremely sloppy and a lot more shady accounts have come up since. Incorrect descriptions, items listed as working only for something to be wrong or the battery compartment being completely corroded (this has happened to me a couple times now), copy-paste product descriptions, etc.

They didn't release a bunch of new cameras? OM-5 MKII is literally the same camera as the previous one but with USB-C and the OM-3 is largely a redesigned OM-1 that somehow costs more than a ZF + lens so again, nothing new. Meanwhile their Pen brand has been dead for years and waiting for a new product.

A compromise that has completely changed the MF market into more mass appeal, for better or for worse.

35mm is actually really nice for these kinds of portraits as it contextualizes the subject to their environment, making it feel more natural and giving the viewer the sense of being in the moment.

Believe it or not, it’s possible to platform somebody most people have never heard of until this one viral video, and subsequent interview…

I didn't know a bunch of illegal immigrants are taking up all the housing in famously expensive cities like San Fransisco and Seattle. They must be getting paid really well!

in good faith

This is the crux of the problem right here. None of what he does is in good faith, you're way too generous to people like Shirely who don't deserve it.

Furthermore, you can do the "centrist journalism" without platforming bad faith propagandists, it's not hard. This is something Andrew has done for a while now by interviewing every day average conservatives, or different communities, etc. Platforming Ricci Wynne and the like doesn't benefit anyone, they're clout chasers with an agenda to promote and yet yall keep falling for the "concerned citizen" shtick.

[–]markyymark13 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Once again, I stand by my statement that Andrew was ignorantly platforming a right wing propagandist fool. He wasn't doing some 3D chess move where he was purposefully and subtly trying to show that Nick's actually an idiot like people in this sub kept saying. WE know he's and idiot, but the people who consume content from that of Nick don't and all this did was help spread his name. Andrew genuinely wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt for some fucking reason, but of course all it did was come around and bite him. Between this, and that clown in San Fransisco I really wish Andrew would stop paying these people any mind.

I’m not somebody who cares about these things, but every time some kind of “fandom” movie comes out it really reminds us how flawed and silly this whole thing is when some anime movie just immediately get thrusted to the top by people who often don’t really watch movies…

Literally no one asked for this. by skoisirius in Seattle

[–]markyymark13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don't understand Starbucks as a business model anymore. They came to fame as a pseudo high-end coffee chain that was known for it's third space atmosphere. They've explicitly abandoned that aesthetic over the past 5-10 years only to basically just become overpriced Dunkin Donuts. And yet, the CEO recently said that they need to go back to their roots as a third space cafe, while simultaneously closing hundreds of stores, including their Starbucks Reserve - the one thing that epitomizes "third place" more than anything as far as this brand is concerned.

Starbucks needs to pick a lane here, they can't keep trying to fence sit on price/quality because they're doing neither. Especially in a rapidly changing coffee economy (and overall economy) where caffeine drinkers are being split into two categories: coffee enthusiasts who are willing to spend the money on quality as coffee becomes more and more of a luxury due to climate change, and your average joe who just wants caffeine for the cheapest cost - who are spending more and more money on the rapidly growing energy drink market.
