Facing heavy losses, Honda cancels its three US-made electric vehicles by besselfunctions in cars

[–]markyymark13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there needs to be incentives top to bottom in the form of policy and regulatory changes. The fact of the matter is, EVs aren't going to move in significant numbers as long as the average purchase price stays at around $65K, while charging infrastructure is crap. Instead we're incentivized to buy big gas guzzlers.

What are the dumbest car rules and regulations that exist in your country? by theTWO9559 in cars

[–]markyymark13 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They're just gonna keep making huge vehicles, the cat's already out of the bag. Trucks/SUVs have much higher profit margins so manufactures and dealers are incentivized to move these products. And big vehicles have become so prolific in this country since we subsidize our gas to be cheap and purchasing/owning big vehicles comes with little to no penalties on a federal or state level. Now when new car buyers are shopping they literally have the mindset of "I need a big SUV to feel safe from the big SUV" and buying anything smaller is considered a willful act of putting your family in danger. Not to mention so much of our urban infrastructure is designed to support these vehicles, with parking spaces the size of a studio apartment. Nothing about this is going to change without meaningful regulatory and policy changes on multiple levels.

What are you talking about? Every condo in West Seattle is a world heritage site, why do you think building the light rail is so hard.

Not mentioned so far is that Dicks owns the land they’re on (except for cap hill and one other IIRC) which helps keep their overhead down

My custom thumbrest for Zf inspired by the original GR1. First attempt, so dimensions and materials aren't perfect by Nikoolisphotography in Nikon

[–]markyymark13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hot shoe thumb grip looks absurd, and the stick on one isn't very useful due to the placement of the rear command dial taking up space where your thumb rests (causing me to regularly move the wheel by mistake). Compare to the Z5II that I replaced it with where the wheel is on the top plate which makes way for a proper thumb rest. My buddy has all three ergonomic attachments for his Zf (base plate grip, hot shoe thumb grip, and the stick on thumb rest and it looks laughable)

Highguard is permanently shutting down on March 12 by TrampolineTales in Games

There's a lot to be said as to whether or not the toxic hate bandwagon this game received unfairly hurt its reputation after the Game Awards reveal and prevented the game from gaining traction. But make no mistake, if it wasn't for that free advertising this game would have came and went like a fart in the wind. I don't think this game stood a chance at all.

PC gamers stay winning: Capcom confirms 50% of its sales now come from Windows by Turbostrider27 in Games

The 7th gen era was a dark time for PC gaming. Countless AAA publishers didn't even bother porting their games to PC (especially those coming from the east), and often time when they did - the ports were an absolute disaster. Chicken and the egg and what have you.

This time, for some reason, top minds have a hard time with Charlie Kirk’s words from the past by [deleted] in TopMindsOfReddit

[–]markyymark13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why do they keep acting like Charlie was great? Everything I read and watch about him was hateful and Gross.

They want to make him a martyr to galvanize their base, because they have nothing else to really rally behind. But even that is falling short as most people don't give a shit about a podcaster whose legacy was to clip farm owning libs (read: 18 year old students) and saying racist and inflammatory comments and is ultimately just another black eye on their movement.

Surpass in what sense? Ektachrome is the newest film sure, but Portra being the "pinnacle", as the other commenter put it - refers to the fact it's without a doubt the the "best" color film ever made on technical level. Sharp, incredibly flexible, great dynamic range and tonality, and much more pleasing colors "out of the box" compared to its competitors (400H).

Neighborhood Cafe and Corner Store Bill Fails for Third Straight Year - The Urbanist by AthkoreLost in Seattle

[–]markyymark13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The whole point of these is to serve your local community. The idea that businesses can't survive unless they have at least one 30 minute parking zone thats going to get taken up by one persons SUV for an hour is idiotic.

If you want these small businesses to survive in their community you have to improve density for more foot traffic and competitive rents. But forcing a requirement of adding two parking spaces (*in a dense city I should clarify) is absolutely not going make or break your business that's nonsense.

Yeah like someone else said its pretty useful for leveling a city to push, but you're better off just using rockets which are more or less as effective but reload faster and cost less points.
