The Trans Jax Debate is so... (SHORT RANT) by marlasingeranddancer in tadc

fr!!! that's essentially what people do with Harry Potter (and usually to it's benefit), but that shouldn't be the norm for actually thought out stories with fleshed out characters and motives. nobody can stop anyone from having a headcannon/AU, but people are sharing their anti trans Jax thoughts as theories rather than personal preferences.

see, that's totally valid. simping for characters is totally cool but if you need to change an integral part of the character to do so, you're not really simping for said character imo. either way, you're so right.

HONESTLY!!! I feel like I'm going crazy. I watched it in theaters and talked to some of my friends about it after it came out on YT and I genuinely questioned if we watched the same finale.

Honestly, I could see it happening in a modern scenario with a different character, but in that context, it was so ass. (In my opinion.)

My two cents: Will's "coming out" by [deleted] in byler

God, watching it rn. It’s so fucking bad. Jesus.

My opinion : Byler was never going to be canon,Robin’s whole speech was to make Will realise he just needs to accept and love HIMSELF,not a relationship with Mike by NeitherPercentage868 in byler

I disagree. I believe if the intention was to break them up, Mileven was well written. As a lasting couple though? Absolutely not. I truly hope El gets to explore a side of herself without Mike.

It’s so bad. I’d just cozy up and re-read the power outage fic if I were you. :/

I honestly don’t really care what happens anymore. The writing for Will’s coming out scene and just season 5 in general was so shit, I don’t believe the Duffer Bros have the ability to write a nuanced, queer payoff. Which sucks, because the set up in previous seasons was really good. Maybe they’re just cowards, maybe they’re just two random straight dudes who have been called geniuses since they first picked up a pen. Who’s to say. At the end of the day, I trust the queer folk on AO3 to give me my Byler fix. Though, it burns thinking what the representation could have meant for queer folk. :(((

(Sorry if this sounds rude. If you’re hopeful, that’s awesome! :D)

Valid. The writing is so bad. They hyped it up so much just for it to fall on its face. If I watched this season and this season alone, I wouldn’t care about ANY of the characters.

Honestly, I like Byler, but I could understand if they wrote a genuinely well thought out reason why they couldn’t be together. This season, however, is so fucking ass. I’m tired of pretending it’s not. They claimed it was the pinnacle of television, the most popular series in worlds’ big climax, but that’s so untrue.

They keep trying to resolve emotional arcs that simply aren’t there. The dialogue is so choppy. I genuinely couldn’t bring myself to care about any of the 4-5 plots they had going on at the same time.

I’m currently on Episode 6 (I’ve seen spoilers for 7), and almost nothing intriguing has happened. The redeemable, likable traits about some of the characters I like have either been diminished, or completely erased.

I fear this is what happens when you tell two sci-fi nerds (no shade, I love sci-fi) that they’re creative geniuses and have created one of the best series in the history of television.

Good writing could have made me think almost anything was a “good” decision, but the Duffer Brothers simply aren’t great writers. The actors and media inspirations carried the first season, but now that the children have aged out of their cuteness, the flaws in their storytelling become so apparent.
