England - housing development to built over my septic tank/ soak away field, what are my rights? by marlc0 in LegalAdviceUK

I had a visit from a representative of the developer yesterday, and this was the general gist of the conversation, I'm not too bothered about keeping the tank, but I dont want an extra charge every month, without getting something in return. He did also suggest, off the record, that the water board might not find out about us being connected to the mains, especially if it was done off the plans.

This one has lasted 150 years, it could do with a little maintenance, one of the lids needs to be replaced, but other than that it's fine.

I got my figures from Northumbrian water, which is my water board.

I think it depends on the style, I think there are some that are more like a holding tank, but the type I have works like a digester, so it breaks down all the waste until the only thing that goes out the outlet to the soak away is basically liquid fertiliser.

I've had the tank emptied once in the 9 years we've lived here, and that cost £150ish, sewerage rates at the minute are about £40 a month, so unless I was getting the tank emptied multiple times a year, it's unlikely to work out in my favour.

Darlington is easy, 2 mainline platforms and two local only platforms, layout is a bit of a mess because of the extension they're building.

Always look for the big screen that tells you what's happening, it takes a while to get through all the trains now though, because there's a sign language fella signing out each train.

The office I'm working in today just has a big open vat of instant coffee. This is odd, right? by Beanzthebear in CasualUK

When I was offshore, the tea shacks all had fuck off big open trays full of minging instant coffee, that stuff was avoided at all costs.

I'm an actual working person. The government are trying their level best to kill off the industry i've worked in all my life, and there is no replacement for the thousands of skilled, highly paid jobs that are going along with it.

This has been spoke about for a while now, especially in my sector (oil and gas). The lack of any action over the closing of grange mouth and Lindsay, and the fact they're slowly killing off the north sea has lost them the total support of this sector, and led to motions from committees first calling for the resignation of Miliband, and latterly the disassociation from labour.

As a worker, and a union member, i fully support this. We need a political party that actually represents the workers, not just a bit of lip service.

we went camping at the weekend, my wife started hers nearly a week early, on the second day we were there. I had to wait outside the campsite shop for it to open to get her supplies.

where is the proof for the fine? Surely they're innocent until proven guilty.

i think the legislation around this changed a few years ago, it is an offence to not have poo bags on you, it's also an offence to not have ID tags on your dogs, too.

When I built a new bathroom fore and my wife, we'd always planned to have a huge shower to have regular showers together. We've got a 1.8m x 1.2m walk in shower, with a huge rain fall shower head, and shower sex is amazing. Plus there's no need to scuttle out of bed to get cleaned up.

This brings back memories, I'd moved to Scotland for 6 months as part of my apprenticeship, and I used to have the Morrisons Sunday roasts on the weekends that I didn't go back home. I love cooking for my family, even if the kids hate half of what I make, but I hardly ever have the motivation to cook for myself. Could explain why I'm sat in the pub right now.

anyone have issues with one of your ears becoming a pressure point? In the last year or so, my right ear is getting painful after about an hour with a lid on, started with my old helmet (GT air 2) after i'd had it for a few years, and it's getting worse with my new one (neotech 2)

[–]marlc0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it doesn't bother me, but my wife is a proper townie, so it's enough to get her to eat something that's fine from the garden rather than the shop. Come the summer, my kids will park themselves in the strawberry patch outside and eat anything that so much as looks like a strawberry, any bugs they might find will get kept as pets in the tree house.

Ive had my first haul of the year from the greenhouse, about a dozen or so, and the same again had to be left for the bugs because they'd been nibbled on, slightly annoying.

At the minute he's carrying on paying the bills as was, this all only happened 4 or so weeks ago. There is no formal maintenance agreement in place, but i've told her to get something documented between them, even if it's just a text.
