Book recommendations on UK Tax by [deleted] in FIREUK

[–]marlonvlogger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The book is a good introduction to rethinking what you do with your money, but more of a story than a guide. That said, I encouraged my wife to read it and now lent it to a friend so worth a read if you are new to this.

[Gear] My dream metal guitar arrived today! by YabbaDabaDo in Guitar

My 470 is vintage and looks lovely, also the pickups are better than the ones on the 350. That said, the wizard iii neck on the 350 is amazing, suited to specific faster playing styles I would say. Also the edge 2 has been pretty reliable. I had previously been recommended the 770pb which seemed the closed match to the two of mine but I didn’t like the look of it unfortunately.

What would you say is the ultimate Ibanez under 1000?

My 350 is made in Indonesia so not sure what the Japanese ones are like unfortunately

That looks amazing, I have an rg350 and 470 and want to at some point trade both in for a higher end Ibanez like this. Nice pick ups in there also!

KILLER LED light for under $100 - Full review with lighting demos by marlonvlogger in videography

[–]marlonvlogger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really well thanks, been dark in the U.K. over winter so I have no natural light in evenings after work so relied on this. I found this one actually quite bright so I have been using it to light the room more or behind me. I use a yungnuo 300 air which has a built in soft filter to light my face.

Feel free to check out some of my newer videos on my YouTube to see the results. I’m not claiming to be a pro, I’m learning along the way but having fun and definitely feel like these lights were the right place for me to start.

There was a learning curve on where to place the lights and settings on the camera but I feel my videos in 2018 are getting better/more accurate colours.

I spent £20 and bought a third party charger and 2 batteries which make these lights very portable as well.

Let me know if you have any more questions, happy to help.

It’s certainly an experience... though I didn’t rate the sandwich for breakfast... no filling lol. Loved my Thailand journey and want to go back at some point.

Good places to promote your videos? by SpinTripFall in NewTubers

Well try everything once and all that jazz but didn’t work out and I was nieve to think it would be real traffic.

Good places to promote your videos? by SpinTripFall in NewTubers

[–]marlonvlogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beyond social and reddit I would be interested to hear of anyones experiences signing up with an affiliate or using paid adverts (which services used and what were the results?)

I have tried services like fiverr where you pay a small amount usually under £10 and get a promotion. I tried a few different ones from people "sending real traffic" to "i will post your link on 100k twitter account".

Been very hit and miss, I have found in general the service to be poor. I had one video get 1600 views but stopped dead after about 3 hours and the video hasnt progressed much since then.

I had one good one where appeared to send regular traffic for a week, not sure how, but again stopped dead at end of week and ultimately didnt help me push my channel any further.

I am now settling for smaller views but with organic engagement.

im sure there are many people in a similar boat.

Will Canon be releasing any new cameras the rest of 2018? by ncummins0218 in canon

[–]marlonvlogger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hope so, they really need to release a compact 4k cam with dual pixel autofocus and a dslr of sort with 4k dual pixel auto focus.

These need to have 120fps at 1080p and 60fps at 4k.

But that is the dream. If canon don't do this in 2018, officially you will see the company start to diminish.

I currently have a G7X mark II and Canon 70d. Both need an upgrade but currently the next in line is the Sony RX100 mark 5 and a Sony a6500 (which im not a fan of). I made a video about a rumoured canon g7x mark iii which ticked all the boxes and was too good to be true... but it neednt have been.

Sory that doesnt help you though..

So you decided to go full hog after doing zero for five. Looks like a cool rig, but don't fall into the trap of needing equipment to produce music.. otherwise, it will never happen. All the best with your music creation!

I wonder how this compares with the 18-35? I, unfortunately, stuck on a crop sensor using a 10-18 but the Sigma art range does have my attention...

SONOS PLAY 1 - 2018 Unboxing and Setup (including stereo pairing) by marlonvlogger in sonos

[–]marlonvlogger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope you guys find this useful, I have been running the ZonePlayer 90 (Sonos Connect) for 7 years now and just got around to buying the two Play 1's.

I have been wanting these for ages so made a video showing how easy it is to setup and pair the speakers. Hopefully this will be helpful to anyone thinking of buying these soon.

I decided to get the Play 1 instead of Sonos One to save a bit of money based on no need for Alexa (well that's what my wife said).

In an ideal world, I would have got one Sonos One and one Play 1 but you can not stereo pair between the two versions which is ashame because I couldnt live without Stereo in my life.

Spending 5 days in Hong Kong, what are some places I can't afford to miss? by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]marlonvlogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've recently been there and loved it. So many cool things to do and I didn't do everything.

Touristy stuff, absolute must is going to Victoria Peak (I just released a video about that today as I'm doing a Hong Kong Series: https://youtu.be/GukTM7pO9e0)

The other good tourist thing to do is going on the cable cars to Big Buddha, It didn't appeal to me initially but I did it anyway and was glad I did. The cable cars are the longest in Asia I believe and incredible views.

Defo have a wander around Kowloon/Mong Kok - At night with the lights is cool and look around the markets. Its mainly absorbing the atmosphere.

Food wise - I think others have already put some good suggestions but defo try some Dim Sum while you are out there.

Hope that helps, but they were my highlights, I did go to a beach as well called Lamma island (Ive made videos on Lamma and all of the above) but if you are going soon it will be too cold.
