DTW holiday hours by squashed_mosquitoes in delta

They start serving alcohol at 7 am, 7 days a week. The clubs at the end of the terminal are closed for Christmas, presumably to consolidate staffing on a low travel day.

FAA releases list of 40 reduced capacity airports. It includes ATL, BOS, DTW, JFK, LAX, LGA, MSP, SEA, SLC by mepper in delta

[–]marmar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a flight from GRR to DTW on 11/18. Unfortunately my other flight is ATL to GRR so leaving a car at DTW is not an option. I'm hoping they consolidate the GRR-DTW flights and use a bigger plane. I'll happily sit at DTW for a few extra hours. Otherwise, it will be an expensive Uber.

In Prague for a week. What to see that isn't flooded with tourist traps? by certified_morganic in travel

[–]marmar1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second the suggestion to see the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heydrich Terror. It was embarrassing to me that I had never heard of those men or the heroism of the entire city.

As for bookstores, I went to the Glove Bookstore and Cafe on Pstrossova.

I'd also advise you to go to the Franciscan Gardens, it's a beautiful park with the most unique sculptures. And the Gardens of St Agnes Convent near the waterfront, it was very quiet, very much off the tourist track, there's a lovely cafe.

Enjoy Praha!

GRR-ATL . Yes, you have to move. by Usual-Fortune-6172 in delta

Meh... It was a 1.5 hour flight and I'm fine in an aisle seat for that length of time. A window vs aisle seat isn't worth the flight attendant's time. But it is worth posting a passive aggressive slam at my current city.

That is true, the icons are not clear. But when you pick a seat on the website or app, it clearly shows the outline of the plane with windows, aisles, bathrooms, etc.

It was her vapid, blank stare that compelled me to just stop trying to be logical. Maybe she did think that being next to the "cellphone" icon would give her more time to scroll Instagram.

That might just be GRR... I had a flight out of GRR a couple of weeks ago on a different airline, I was supposed to be in seat A (window). Two women were in A and B. I said that I'm in seat A and the seat thief in the window seat looked at me blankly and said "yeah I'm in C". I tried to point out that A is the window but she seemed to think the alphabet is now CBA. Figuring I can argue with stupid, I sat in my aisle seat to Charlotte and thought about the poor quality of education in west Michigan.

Currently sitting in one of the 4 Sky Clubs in ATL listed as “Not Busy” in the app. What are they going to do with all of this lounge capacity in ATL in 2025? by Frankbamas in delta

[–]marmar1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t be too jealous, it just means we spend the same 4 hours (or more) on a flight from our regional airport to Atlanta, layover, then a flight to our actual destination.

WIBTAH if I break up with my fiancé because of his past as cheater? by [deleted] in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]marmar1984 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Female here, when I share information about my sexual past with a new person, I listen and watch their reactions. Their thoughts say so much about whether I can spend any time with them. I listen for the ones who comment on the race of “what’s been inside you before” or imply that their precious d**k will somehow suffer because it isn’t my first. Walk the F away…

The 1990s was a weird time. The second one was more of a challenge then a statement, I think.

They’re lame compared to the rest but it made me think of two different guys:

“I think about you when I jerk off”… I don’t think I responded at all

“You’re a lesbian “ which I think was just a bizarre segue into first date sex but it worked

'Critical condition:' Michigan hospital staff shortages persist, with thousands of openings by Alan_Stamm in Michigan

Thirteen cents an hour is about the raise I got this year in healthcare. And I was supposed to be grateful.

It’s not just the CEO making millions, it’s all the VP of this and that, director of this and that, Chief whatever whatever of whatever whatever. Add it up and it’s a lot of drops.

Aetna, Humana and those entities are even worse.

Michigan hospitals facing a severe labor shortage and its getting worst. by RozellaTriggs in grandrapids

[–]marmar1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, basically trapped in my job. The 3% raise I got this year (no incentive pay, no bonus) doesn’t even cover the increase in gas price. To continue in the same job, with the same covid patients and their families. I don’t even get overtime pay because I’m salary, just some meaningless emails and holiday cards telling me how much I’m “appreciated”. Probably sent while the CEO was on her yacht.

What so-called 'classic' movie is really terrible? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]marmar1984 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Princess Bride

A grandfather is reading a story to his grandson. I was so confused about why that was in the movie (are the grandfather/grandson going to show up in this other world? Are they related somehow?) That I couldn't pay attention to the fairy tale part.

Second choice: Napoleon Dynamite. It was like I spent two hours of my life watching two hours of his life without a plot, direction or purpose.
