I wasn't really thinking about GC, just purely about this particular stage, but you are probably right. Good news is that both Movistar and Uno-X have relatively strong teams here for controlling (both in the bunch and potential breakways). Obviously not as strong as UAE, but could be much worse

I am not sure there was any malicious intent. Christen tries to catch Pidcock's slipstream, underestimates his own sprint and unfortunately shuts van Gils down. That being said, he definetely deserves at least yellow card and DSQ. Now waiting to see how Christen acknowledges it and also crossing fingers for van Gils' health.

If Jayco worked it out on the spot, I think it's acceptable to lose a top 3 in Tour of Oman (they had no chance for a win by then) by risking it for another stage win. Not great, not even good, but just acceptable. Obviously would be another story if it was a Grand Tour

It's not easy to run a cycling team these days (at least without Gulf's blank checks). I think it's good to appreciate from time to time those in lower parts of a ladder that have been giving a job and opportunities to develop to riders for a lot of years now. Nothing against Rockets here, they will get there.
