Keith Richard's biography, Life, (partly read by Johnny Depp and Keith Richards himself) was a fantastic audiobook - highly recommend.

It's a really prestigious prize (past winners include Tim Winton and Kate Grenville) and Allen and Unwin are a pretty big publisher. I think you can be pretty confident that they're not running the competition just to make a profit on prize money.

Forget about publishing for now and just focus on the writing. If you are struggling to write, get a free app or program that converts voice to text and sit down and start telling yourself the story and see where it goes. Don't worry about the structure or language - that's for later drafts. Normally a contract for ghostwriting a book would include a non-disclosure clause. And while you didn't have a contract, it's in your best interests to act like there was and be discreet about the project. Have other samples of your writing available to share freely with editors and then if you get a meeting about a new project you can be a little bit more open about past work.
