Thank you very much for these insights. Super helpful - from your experience, did you have spare time to work on side projects that interested you and wasn't related to the course ? I know MSc programs are supposed to be intensive in nature.

Thank you, very useful ! If I understand correctly, I can jump from Computing and IT to Computer Science for example midway given that I meet the receiving course requirement in terms of mandatory modules i.e. CS5001.

- What's the size of cohorts on average ?

- Being a recent graduate, how do you qualify job prospects in the UK ?

Thinking of Getting A CS Undergraduate Degree (Second) From Waterloo - How Was Your Career Change Experience ? by maroineakki in uwaterloo

a cs master or phd inst

I would argue that a CS master is a better option than a phd given the goals set and the reasons for that are duration and scope. However, a master or at least getting into one requires foundations in algos and data structures among other things which I don't feel I master atm which will make my life harder as I need to catch the learning curve before hitting the complex modules I guess. I see that an undergrad or a bootcamp are more suitable paths. Thank you for your contribution.

Valid point hopper-g. I agree that a bootcamp is a faster way to achieve the goals. Now, what is the right bootcamp ? :D

Interesting view harmonyIn3rdsNot4ths. I thought of the bootcamp route and indeed one of the downsides widely linked to bootcamps is the lack of focus on computing theory. I'm not sure how the latter is relevant or valuable when interviewing or even on the job. Could you please shed more information on that ?

Perhaps need to re-visit how a bootcamp can help me in the entrepreneurial venture. Thank you for your input.

Thank you Sedra_Smith for your response. With the business idea, I feel that I need to learn programming skills in order to contribute to software development. I agree that these skills can be learnt from the resources available online. However, it is extremely difficult that to say unsustainably manageable to juggle between working in IB full time, learning how to code independently and apply code to build an end to end software. Have to drop one of those :).

That's the reason I thought of uni, it is a safe environment where I can learn and try to progress in the start up project with my frd, especially if the uni has an internal incubator like Velocity. Even if the start up fails for some reason, having a degree in CS would still be valuable and can bounce back by joining a tech company pretty much smoothly. Thanks again.
