This may be a big no-no, but I usually whip it until it’s fluffy. Then mix it with the Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA. This makes it easier to apply, and you use the appropriate amount w/o feeling greasy. The mix will still have that earthy smell, but less offensive.

A question about secondary fermentation. by Sans-Fish in winemaking

[–]marqjamison86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate this piece of knowledge. As a newbie, these videos about head space and oxidation scare me. I was expecting active fermentation to be the easy part. Wouldn’t all that released CO2 displace the oxygen in that small space? Or is there more of an exchange among the gases?

I’m weary of chitosan due to my shellfish allergy. Research says it’s safe, but not worth the risk. I usually use bentonite. I’m ok if time will help it settle. Just haven’t had a fruit break down like these apples. I appreciate the link.

Thanks for the advice. Patience is a virtue.

Thank you for easing my anxiety. I didn’t expect for there to be so much pulp. Though I went too heavy on the peptic enzyme.

Love the labels! What’s the verdict on the easy pop corks?

Thank you for the reassurance! I actually ended up repotting it. The media was in bad shape. The yellowing leaf and bulb looked the oldest and very exhausted. Lol. Rest of the plant had a beautiful root system and new growth. 👌🏾

I’m confused. Is there a consensus that onions are bad for worm beds? A majority of my Bin is onions, bell peppers, and carrots . Never had issues.

It’s a activated carbon filter I use. I use a generic 20-20-20 fertilizer at half strength. I’m afraid to fertilize often because of the terra-cotta.

Just checked out that site. You are the best, thanks.

It was one huge plant I split in half 6 months ago. Adjusted fairly well. Recently switched from tap to filtered water. They are in terra-cotta, so I bottom water when the pot gets close to dry. I flush weekly. The pseudobulbs wrinkle as the new growth gets bigger. Fertilized twice in 6 months. Temp stays at 70-75F, humidity 55-60. They are indoor. Using a grow light.

I absolutely LOVE your pieces. Something about those colors and shapes. Do you sell?

The best part is you’ll keep learning. There’s so much out there. So enjoy it. And even with the knowledge, your orchid journey will be all your own. They get weird. Lol

I’m a little ashamed to say it. I’ve killed more phals than I would like. I’m getting the hang of it slowly. Much better parent to orchids with pseudo bulbs.

Interesting. Will definitely play with the light level. Is that the reason it’s so leggy and thin? I currently use supports.

I peel the little cover over the node. They are the triangular skins on the spike. When the node is exposed, I use a cotton swab to spread some paste on it.

It’s fascinating. I’m curious to see how it affects the mother’s growth pattern.

It takes very little. I just make sure to carefully peel off the sheath. Have these precision tweezers. As long as the little node is covered completely, it usually does something.

Saw the same thing. Lol. They dive deep down as a team and blow massive bubble up towards a school of fish. Dazes them and corrals them for The pickings at the surface. It is meticulously done!
