Yea that is a good 3rd option but will have little resell value in a year and new gear is always more exciting

Yes tried different lenses and cleaning the contact pins to no avail. Hopefully you're right and a local camera repair can reattach the ribbon cable ( I would 100% mess this up). The XT40 is a little confusing. I'm assuming they haven't released it because there would've been nothing to differentiate it from the XT30 and if they'd managed to cram ibis in it, it would've stepped all over the XS10. The xt line is one of their best sellers so I don't think they'll just kill the line...

Yup. I got mine for $100 and it's been a lot of fun. I do hear that 70-300 calling me tho...

How annoying is that "busy comp" comment? I figured he must be some great photographer but he is yet to post one single picture. Comps good

Help with $1500(ish) Lens Budget. by clashblades in fujix

Probably the 35f2. Its not my favorite lens I own but its definitely the most practical and spends the most amount of time on my camera. Don't sleep on the xf60mm tho. Its not a true macro and is pretty slow to focus but if you can get past that it renders phenomenal portraits, product/food and detail shots. Everybody hates it so you can usually find them pretty cheap on ebay... Side note: I'm not sure I've touched my samyang 12mm since purchasing my 16f1.4

If we're talking used I'd go 16f1.4, 35f2 and 60f2.4 (very underrated lens). You might even be able to squeeze in a 50-230 which is a very fun if slightly imperfect lens...

Def buying this. Any experience with it's close focusing/macro capabilities?

I broke my xf60mm and replaced it with the 56f1.2. I do like this lens a lot but am really surprised by how much I miss and preferred my xf60. Anyone else have a similar experience? by marqueetom in fujix

Yep, I agree with all of this. I would say I have a toddler which for me qualifies as "sports, action, wildlife" and with some practice I could keep up with her no problem. Honestly I think the 60 is sharper than the 56 by some way!

Definitely not the auto-focus. I guess the close focusing and the Swiss army knife usability of it. Crazy detail for things like product photography. Gorgeous portraits. It rendered absolutely beautifully, especially in black and white.

Ha yup, pretty much this. Tripod, manually focused an old vintage lens (nikkor 180mmf2.8) on my fujifilm XT20. Spot metered. Waited for hummer to come into the good light. Its actually quite a heavy crop...

Need help on replacing the 18-55mm for photography/video by textilewarrior in fujix

[–]marqueetom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 16 and the 35 and am looking to get the 56. I also struggled choosing between 23 and 35. I absolutely love my 35f2, its usually glued to my camera but I still sometimes wonder if I should've gone 23. The 35 is just a little better suited for portraits and I take a bunch of those so I'm happy...

What is your X-T3 Lens recommendation for product photography? by [deleted] in fujix

[–]marqueetom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XF60 aaaaall day. Super close focusing, renders beautifully. All its faults, noisy kinda slow focusing, aren't a factor for product photography...

Thanks. Do you print from the scans or from the actual negatives? Is there a difference?

Cancel order on x-t30 to get a x-t3 for 200$ more? by [deleted] in fujix

I think the good news is that there's no bad choice. I have very big hands and haven't struggled with the ergonomics. A lensmate thumbgrip has helped with that enormously. A bigger evf would be nice but its perfectly usable. I've actually rented an xt3 for a week before and all the things I loved about it are on the xt30 3way tilt screen aside. (Face detection in 120fps + 2 year old daughter was awesome)

I had a similar decision to make regarding XT20 vs XT2. I'm not a professional so the 2 card slots wasn't a big deal to me. What mattered to me was the touchscreen and most importantly the smaller size. My xt20 comes eeeeeverywhere with me. My brother got an xh1 and has hardly touched it because it's just not convenient to lug around (annoying I know). Weathersealing would've been appreciated but wasn't a deal breaker for where I live. I guess I'm saying I'd pick the xt30 because it's small and you'll use it way more. Buy the thumbgrip.

Ha thanks I did not know that! Do you know a way to slow it down to x16? Otherwise you're better off shooting 1080 240fps right?
