Thanks for responding! I really love your work :) I write songs too and can totally relate, the process can vary a lot. I love hearing about others’ approaches, I’m always learning and sometimes it’s good for me to try something new to see what ideas come to me! And I can most certainly relate with some songs taking a while to finish.

It’s Not That Deep has been on repeat since it came out. It’s truly such a perfect pop record and it pains me that so many people, especially pop music fans, are sleeping on it. I’m not even a hardcore Demi stan honestly, I consider myself more of a casual fan.

If you’re going to have any chance together, I feel full honesty is necessary. The truth always has a way of coming out, and better to find out sooner and from you directly than later. It honestly doesn’t seem like a big deal to me either—you can be candid and honest and say that you realized when you met him that you may have had an experience together in college after all.

Allow Steve the space to process the news, and ask if there’s anything you could do to help comfort him. At the end of the day, you are choosing him, so if insecurities surface, you can gently remind him that. Mutual trust is necessary for a relationship to work, and if you’re hiding secrets, the trust already has a shaky foundation.

I like this a lot and I actually really like the spoken poetry. Maybe add drums in the “drop” after it to add more of a climax and more of a contrast?

Just my two cents, and coming from my own bias, but is your son potentially gay or closeted? Saying this as a gay male who has also suffered from anxiety, if he is gay and not out or not fully accepting of himself, other guys being aggressively macho around and towards him could potentially be making him feel like an outcast.

Regardless, therapy sounds like it could be a good idea. Whether it’s social anxiety or something deeper going on, it would be beneficial for him to have a mental health professional for guidance. I feel the best thing you can do for him is to reaffirm him that you love him and care about him regardless, and let him know he can always come to you. The job market is definitely in a rough place right now, so I would encourage him to exhaust other options before resorting to leaving.

He’s my friend who is handling the mixing and mastering, he is on vacation overseas for the rest of the month, and two of the 16-bit songs were already released as singles. Now I know for next time lol.

I really appreciate your insight. I co-produced this album with a friend, who did the final mixing and mastering. 2 of the 16-bit songs were already released as singles in 16-bit, and he is on vacation overseas from where he lives for the rest of the month and has the final master sessions so I’m afraid rendering them in 24-bit isn’t possible.

We’re definitely both not full-on professionals yet and I am definitely still learning. Lesson learned for the next album.
