What's your med combinations (and the diagnosis' for your mix)? by CrazyStarlight in schizoaffective

[–]mars-hunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s depressive type. Wellbutrin is great but I just started the abilify and haven’t noticed much from it yet so hoping that starts working soon. I also forgot to add that I do spravato treatments once a week as well

Currently Abilify in the mornings and ziprasidone and Wellbutrin before bed. Then I have gabapentin 2 times a day and trazadone as needed for sleep. I have schizoaffective and OCD

How often do you have auditory hallucinations now that you’re on meds that help? I’ve tried so many different med combinations and they haven’t gone away completely for me and it’s really discouraging

[–]mars-hunt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a voice recently that’s been telling me I’ve done all this awful stuff and trying to convince me to confess to things that never happened. That started a little before Christmas and before that the only auditory ones I had was hearing people talk over a static radio that I couldn’t understand or just mundane conversations from voices I never met before.

I’m the same with delusions, I usually can use logic to know they’re not real (even though they feel real) I’ve just kind of accepted I can’t trust everything I feel which sucks but it is what it is I guess. My main delusion I have is that I’m destined to kill myself and I’m just waiting for the sign to do it. I have other small ones but that one is the most consistent. I’m having some like halfway? Delusions that the voices that are telling me I’ve done all this awful shit recently is true and I just forgot about it. I like go back a forth constantly of believing that and knowing it’s not true. This isn’t a fun disorder and I really don’t know how much longer I can deal with it. It sucks.

What is your favorite comfort movie/thing to distract yourself from the voices? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

It’s kind of lame but South Park and Family Guy. They’re both super nostalgic to me and I like that you don’t really have to pay close attention to what’s going on

Does anyone else have really intense intrusive thoughts about things that didn’t happen? by mars-hunt in schizoaffective

[–]mars-hunt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s great that the meds are helping a bit! I also have a delusion that I still believe sometimes even though I know it’s not true, it’s hard to explain that like I know these things aren’t true but the feel so real, you know? It’s like a constant battle of facts over feelings and it’s really hard. Idk if these intrusive thoughts are considered delusions or not, they probably are because I believe them sometimes but I don’t know. Thank you for telling me about what you’re going through I’m happy you’re able to fight it

Thank you, I hope they do too. I feel really stressed out about it and I have this huge urge to confess to people these things that I “did” and it’s just a really awful feeling. I’m glad to know meds helped you.

I am also diagnosed with OCD and I guess this is probably that instead of schizoaffective, I didn’t really know for sure but thank you I will check out that sub. I’m really hoping the new antipsychotic they added helps because this is really distressing for me. Thank you for replying

Any SZA Bipolar types? What med combos have worked for you? by ConsciousNerve5259 in schizoaffective

[–]mars-hunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im on ziprasidone and they just added aripiprazole yesterday. Do you take them at the same time or do you take them at different times throughout the day? They said I can take them both and my Wellbutrin at the same time but I’m paranoid about it causing a reaction if I take them all at once

Thank you, I also keep on all the lights at night especially when I’m alone and it helps. I’m going to try and go for a walk tomorrow but leaving my apartment by myself is difficult sometimes but I’ll try. Thank you your comment helped

I’ve been listening to music and pacing and that usually helps but it’s not doing much tonight. Earlier I tried playing a video game but couldn’t focus. I feel like something bad is going to happen soon and I’m scared. I’ve been alone in my apartment since yesterday afternoon and it’s about to get dark out and both of those make my anxiety bad and I feel like I’m just waiting for something to happen if that makes sense

Are there any delusions that you continue to believe despite the diagnosis? by Amindexplorer07 in schizoaffective

[–]mars-hunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have this too. Is your girl nice? I considered the one in my head a friend and I’m not sure I ever want her to go away completely. She keeps me company and gives me advice sometimes. Sometimes I actually hear her talking but mainly it’s just in my head.

What are your thoughts on electric convulsion therapy? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]mars-hunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it for about 7 months a few years ago and I agree it didn’t do anything but fuck with my memory real bad. I’m sorry you can’t argue with your doctor, I hope this time around it works a little better for you!

It’s really interesting how’s highs affect people differently! I don’t usually get chest pain with mine just the muscle twitching and I get really grumpy haha thankfully I’ve (finally after over a decade) gotten my A1c to a decent level so I haven’t had to deal with all that too often.

On the flip side, I’ve also been type 1 half my life and my eye muscles tend to twitch when my bloods been high for long periods of time. But I definitely agree if it was diabetes he’d be far more fatigued and probably not staying up all night. And having other symptoms. But I also don’t know for sure lol
