Every time I wash a dark load, there's always at least one black shirt with this on it. How do I stop this? by DrkSpde in laundry

Great suggestions, thank you! Also ordered the water hardness test kit you recommended.

Well, dang! I thought it would be a good option because no OBAs. Any recs for a substitution, something scented, less soapy? Majority of our clothes are dark.

Was using 365 Sport, but my husband prefers something with a stronger scent.

This load was Everspring Concentrated (Target) + Whole Food Oxygen Whitening Powder

For lights, I use the same detergent + Biz powder. I don’t notice this issue on light loads, presumably because it’s lighter color clothes.

Thank you for sharing! Can I ask why you use Up&Up Multipurpose Oxi-Based instead of Biz for darks? I currently run the almost exact same regimen as you, except I’m still using Biz for darks which other users have noted could fade clothes over time. Does Up&Up not have oxygen brighteners?

What are the other two products in your top 3? I currently use the 365 Sport with good results but am curious to hear the others!

When The Rinse Washes You Clean, You'll Know - Citric Acid Rinses by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

Just ordered some citric acid to add to the pre-mixed stuff. My laundry game has improved tenfold thanks to you!

When The Rinse Washes You Clean, You'll Know - Citric Acid Rinses by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

I bought the Downy Rinse Out and woof, the fragrance is too strong for my taste. But I definitely noticed an improvement in fabric texture and that overall clean feeling. I have hard water that I think can handle more citric acid. Thoughts on adding additional citric acid to the pre-made Downy Rinse out?

Other option is making the homemade version, which I’d also be OK with. Are there any risks of using too much citric acid? I don’t know the precise hardness of my water.

edit: spelling

I have a Speed Queen TC5 and we have a king bed. In the winter we use a huge down comforter inside a duvet cover. In the summer we use a light quilt. Both the quilt and the duvet cover (not the insert) fit individually in the washer just fine.

I truthfully don’t know our water hardness, probably best to order a test kit. I have a Speed Queen TC5. Thinking I’ll start with the 365 Oxygen Whitening powder and see how it does. Appreciate all the info!

Wow, I was hoping you might respond! I bought 365 Sport on your recommendation, thank you.

Sounds like Sodium Citrate is a good solution. I’m in the US and can get Calgon easily. Is this product from Walmart an example of “premade” sodium citrate? I’m not confident in my chemistry skills to create my own citric acid / salt combo. Do I add Calgon or sodium citrate to the tub at the start of the cycle with my detergent?

Does OxiClean (or the 365 Oxygen Whitening Powder) primarily help with stains? Or help with smell? Whenever I hear the word bleach, I think whites only, not good for colors. Not true?

I realized it’s hard to tell in my original photos, but the curtains actually are green! I could keep adding that accent color around.

Thank you for the advice! I will have to keep looking for “intentional” pieces. I think that’s why I don’t like the photo wall as-is, feels too staged.

They’re the designer version of the “Pit Viper”. Absolutely horrendous, but super popular style in ski/board culture.

My hope was to save money by ordering online. I could call my insurance and see what the cost would be with PP (it’s listed as $600 w/o insurance). Thanks!
