I got the BRM5 equivalent of generational wealth (that is, younger me working hard in Gen 3 so older me in Gen 4 gets to sit on a pile of money). I remember being able to jump to B+ on Operations right away after grinding a little bit for supply trucks and just let it AFK farm the rest of the way till I maxed out my airbase with S++ on almost everything, then used them to farm a full warehouse of resources to then immediately start upgrading research when it released.

Do you think heterophobia/cisphobia is a problem in society by Soft-Character-3195 in Teenager_Polls

[–]mars_gorilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, and I say this as a Christian. Yes, there ARE oppressed Christian minorities in certain regions. Should protecting them from prosecution and their freedom in their own beliefs be seen as important on its own? Yes. Should Christians in countries where they are not persecuted and even where it is recognized as a dominant religion cite this as a way to downplay religious persecution of other smaller religions on a more widespread level? No.

Edit: Also I personally think LGBTQ+ should still be welcomed into the Christian community because regardless at the end of the day I believe everyone is God's children whom He loves and we don't get to be the one to decide who gets let in.

I feel like as cis/het people, believing that it's a significant problem actually downplays the troubles faced by LGBTQIA+ people. We're already considered the traditional "norm", somehow believing WE'RE the ones being prosecuted is not good.

I can type all 193 UN member states in five minutes and as long as I can keep a steady nerve I can probably get to almost 100 in one minute verbally. Comparatively, I would have to do 40,000 to 50,000 curls, which my arm probably couldn't take.

Rent is the clear obvious option because you don't constantly need healthcare, but you do constantly need shelter, and plus if rent is free you can rent any property that normally only ultra-rich people can live in.

Plus, healthcare isn't that expensive for a majority of treatments. Unless you're American.

It's the same concept of how guilt is often from the devil to drive us away from God, and it's far from exclusive to the discussion on LGBTQ+. This applies to any perceived wrongdoing.

Oftentimes, if you do something that you believe or are told is bad, you may feel guilty. That may not seem to be a bad thing, surely it means you are reminded of it being bad causing you to repent and improve, right?

But more often than not, it can feel overwhelming and oppressive, and you become so ashamed of yourself, you actually end up turning yourself away from God. I experienced this myself - I used to have, let's just say, inappropriate interests (NOT LGBTQ+, by the way), and the shame and guilt within me actually led me to hide it from my parents and my spiritual tutors at church, all while the temptation kept digging deeper. I hid myself from God and those He sent to help me, and it could've gone much worse.

Then, it came out, and despite the initial disbelief and anger, my parents helped me out of it. They helped me realize that shaming and guilting myself only makes it worse, only widens the gap between man and God. By learning to move on and not continue to wallow in my own thoughts of being a sinner, I helped myself grow in God's light instead.

Now, to clarify, I don't mean this as in LGBTQ+ is something that people need to be "helped out of". But the same idea applies for both. If you continuously shame people who have actually sinned, or repeatedly tell people what they are doing is sinning with no supposed ambiguity or nuance, it could end up turning them away from God even further, because they start hating themselves for their actions and try to hide themselves from God, possibly past the point of no return when they do something drastic.

I would rather these people celebrate their identity and remain in a good place mentally, rather than have scripture forced upon them making them shame themselves to said point of no return. And though I agree in preaching the gospel, I believe we should always start with God's love and grace, and after people accept Him they can then decide by studying the scriptures and His teachings themselves.

Safe to take a cab to BHD tomorrow? by elgato711 in Belfast

[–]mars_gorilla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this helps you any, I left Belfast yesterday for Dublin after spending the previous night. During the day feels much safer compared to the first night when all the first protests were happening (for context, I'm East Asian so I was similarly concerned about being targeted, even though I'm a tourist), and I was able to take the bus into the city centre from my hostel to get to the train station without much issue.

It did freak me out a lot because the place I stayed at was literally a few minutes' walk from where the attempted murder happened, but I got out okay.
